About The Role
We are seeking a talented Salesforce Developer to join our Product Engineering Team at Sage, based in Winnersh (Reading area), UK. This is a hybrid role requiring three days onsite and two days remote each week. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in developing and maintaining high-quality Salesforce solutions for Sage’s flagship SaaS product, Sage People, a comprehensive HR and people management platform built on the Salesforce platform. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about hands-on development, technical innovation, and creating scalable, robust solutions that support global enterprise needs.
Sage People is a sophisticated, cloud-based SaaS product that serves clients worldwide. As an ISV (Independent Software Vendor), Sage continuously enhances its core platform, emphasizing code quality, scalability, and long-term architecture. This role is deeply technical, focusing on development rather than administration or bespoke customer solutions. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including frontend engineers, testers, product managers, and architects, to deliver integrated features and functionalities that drive customer success and product excellence.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in object-oriented programming, with proven experience in Java or C#. Experience developing on the Salesforce platform, particularly with Salesforce Lightning and Lightning Web Components (LWC), is essential. You should demonstrate hands-on experience delivering solutions using Apex, SOQL, and JavaScript, with the ability to translate complex business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
Additional qualifications include familiarity with modern development tools such as Git, Jira, IntelliJ, and CI/CD pipelines. Salesforce Developer Certification is highly desirable, but not mandatory. Exposure to Salesforce REST APIs and experience working in Agile environments, such as Scrum or SAFe, will be advantageous. We are open to applications from experienced Salesforce Developers and backend developers with strong development fundamentals seeking to specialize in Salesforce.
Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage and deliver complex technical projects are critical for success in this role.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain high-quality Salesforce solutions that support Sage’s global SaaS product, ensuring scalability, performance, and security.
- Work hands-on with Apex, SOQL, JavaScript, Salesforce Lightning, and Lightning Web Components (LWC) to build innovative features and functionalities.
- Translate complex business requirements into robust technical solutions, contributing to technical design and architecture discussions.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Salesforce developers, frontend engineers, testers, product managers, and architects, to deliver integrated solutions.
- Utilize modern development tools such as Git, Jira, IntelliJ, and CI/CD pipelines to streamline development and deployment processes.
- Participate actively in Scrum or SAFe ceremonies, quarterly planning, and product releases, ensuring timely delivery of features.
- Contribute to the product roadmap, including the integration of AI-driven capabilities to enhance functionality and user experience.
- Maintain a focus on code quality, best practices, and long-term architecture to support the ongoing evolution of the Sage platform.
- Engage in continuous learning and professional development to stay current with Salesforce innovations and industry best practices.
