Salesforce Developer
The Brain Tumour Charity is leading the way in research, support, and advocacy for everyone affected by brain tumours. Our mission is simple but urgent: to accelerate a cure for brain tumours and improve life for everyone affected by this devastating disease.
As our Salesforce Developer, you’ll be a key member of our small Salesforce team within Information Technology Solutions and Innovation (ITSI), helping maximise the value of Salesforce across The Charity. You’ll collaborate with teams across the organisation to deliver innovative solutions that support our strategic goals.
You’ll design, develop and optimise customised Salesforce solutions, translate business requirements into effective workflows, troubleshoot issues and help prioritise Salesforce development activities. Using your technical expertise and strategic mindset, you’ll continuously enhance our Salesforce platform, ensuring solutions are scalable, effective and deliver meaningful value to the organisation.
📍Location: The role is home based with occasional visits to Fleet (Head Office).
⏰Working hours: This role is 37.5 hours per week, with some out of hours working.
💰Benchmarked salary: c.£60,000 (dependent on level)
Responsibilities
- Take technical ownership of both the NPC and NPSP Salesforce orgs, ensuring their architecture, development and configuration remain secure, scalable, maintainable and aligned with organisational priorities.
- Provide technical leadership for Salesforce, setting and embedding best practices across solution design, Apex, Flow, integrations, testing, deployment and ongoing optimisation.
- Line manage and develop two Senior Salesforce Administrators, providing direction, coaching and support while effectively prioritising and coordinating the team’s workload.
- Own and develop the Salesforce data integration layer, continuing to utilise and optimise existing automation tools while ensuring integrations, data flows and APIs are reliable, scalable and well governed.
- Design, develop and enhance Salesforce solutions that improve business processes, user experience and the overall effectiveness of the platform.
- Collaborate with teams across the Charity to understand requirements and process challenges, translating business needs into scalable, best-practice technical solutions.
- Deliver Salesforce projects and enhancements, working with internal and external stakeholders to ensure solutions meet requirements and are delivered to agreed priorities, timescales and standards.
- Lead the review, documentation and optimisation of existing automations and code, transitioning legacy solutions towards current Salesforce best practices where appropriate.
- Maintain the security, integrity and quality of Salesforce systems and data, troubleshooting issues, reviewing configurations, resolving defects and supporting data quality improvements.
- Oversee Salesforce configuration and administration, including users, permissions, objects, fields, page layouts, flows and other platform configuration.
- Drive continuous improvement of the Salesforce environment, proactively identifying opportunities to improve performance, scalability, efficiency, resilience and user experience.
- Oversee the management and governance of CRM data, ensuring data is maintained in accordance with The Charity’s policies, standards and data protection requirements.
- Ensure effective support, documentation and knowledge sharing, working with the wider ITSI team to resolve Salesforce issues, maintain technical and process documentation, and keep abreast of Salesforce releases and emerging best practice.

Experience
- Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Salesforce Developer, ideally including experience with Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP) and/or Nonprofit Cloud.
- Experience designing, developing and maintaining Salesforce solutions using Apex, Lightning Web Components, Flow and declarative configuration.
- Experience using OmniStudio, particularly OmniScript, to develop guided user experiences and business processes.
- Strong experience with data integrations, ETL processes and APIs, integrating Salesforce with third-party platforms and services.
- Hands-on experience with n8n or similar integration and workflow automation tools, developing and maintaining reliable automated data flows.
- Experience taking technical ownership of Salesforce environments, including solution design, development standards, deployments and platform optimisation.
- Experience reviewing and modernising existing Salesforce code, configuration and automations, applying Salesforce best practice and improving maintainability and performance.
- Experience gathering and translating complex business requirements into scalable, effective and user-focused technical solutions.
- Experience delivering complex Salesforce projects and enhancements, managing priorities and working effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience leading, mentoring or line managing Salesforce Administrators, providing technical direction, supporting professional development and coordinating workloads.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong technical knowledge of the Salesforce platform, including Apex, Lightning Web Components, Flow, OmniStudio/OmniScript, security, permissions and Salesforce development best practices.
- Strong understanding of system integration principles, REST/SOAP APIs, ETL, data architecture and workflow automation, including n8n or similar technologies.
- Highly organised, proactive and confident, with the ability to take ownership and work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues, challenge existing approaches and recommend practical improvements.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy, particularly when working with business-critical systems, integrations and data.
- Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to balance technical quality with business requirements, making pragmatic decisions around scalability, maintainability, user experience and value.
- Ability to manage a varied and complex workload, prioritising competing development, project and operational requirements and meeting agreed deadlines.
- Strong understanding of CRM data quality, governance, security and data protection principles.
- A continuous improvement mindset, keeping up to date with Salesforce developments and proactively identifying opportunities to improve the platform, integrations, processes and team practices.
