About The Role
We are seeking a skilled Salesforce Developer to join our Product Engineering Team at Sage, based in Winnersh (Reading area), UK. This hybrid role requires three days onsite and offers an exciting opportunity to work on Sage People, our flagship HR and people management SaaS product built on the Salesforce platform. As a Salesforce Developer, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality solutions that serve a global customer base. This role is highly hands-on and focused on delivering scalable, robust functionalities rather than administrative or consulting tasks. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including frontend developers, testers, architects, and product managers, to drive innovation and improve the product’s capabilities, especially in emerging areas like AI-driven features. Your expertise will help translate complex business requirements into technical solutions that enhance user experience and operational efficiency, ensuring our platform remains at the forefront of technology and user needs.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess proven experience in object-oriented programming languages such as Java or C#, demonstrating strong development fundamentals. You should have hands-on experience developing solutions on the Salesforce platform, particularly with Salesforce Lightning and Lightning Web Components (LWC). Proficiency in Apex, SOQL, and JavaScript is essential, along with the ability to manage complex technical and business requirements effectively. A Salesforce Developer Certification is highly desirable but not mandatory. Experience with version control systems like Git, project management tools such as Jira, and CI/CD pipelines will be advantageous. Candidates with exposure to Salesforce REST APIs and a strong desire to learn and adapt to new technologies are encouraged to apply. We welcome both experienced Salesforce developers and backend developers seeking to specialize in Salesforce, provided they have a solid foundation in software development and a keen interest in expanding their expertise.
Responsibilities
As a Salesforce Developer at Sage, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality Salesforce solutions tailored for a global SaaS environment.
- Working directly with Apex, SOQL, JavaScript, and Lightning Web Components to build scalable features that support customer and employee management functionalities.
- Translating complex business requirements into technical architectures, requiring strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Participating in technical design discussions, contributing to system architecture, and ensuring best practices are followed throughout the development lifecycle.
- Collaborating closely with various teams, including Salesforce developers, frontend engineers, testers, product managers, and architects, in a modern development environment utilizing Git, Jira, IntelliJ IDEA, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Involvement in Scrum or SAFe ceremonies, quarterly planning, and product releases, ensuring timely delivery of features and enhancements.
- Contributing to evolving the product roadmap, especially in integrating AI-driven capabilities to enhance the platform’s functionality.
- Active development work on Salesforce, not just configuration or administrative tasks.
