Salesforce Developer / Automation Test Engineer
Salary: £70,000 - £90,000
Location: Fully Remote
Package: Full corporate benefits package
Overview
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Salesforce Developer / Automation Test Engineer to join an exciting SaaS organisation. This is a hybrid role combining hands-on Salesforce development with automation testing, with responsibility for building, testing and maintaining a business-critical Salesforce platform. You will work across both development and quality engineering, delivering new functionality while improving automated test coverage, regression testing and overall platform reliability. This would suit someone with strong Salesforce development experience across Apex, Lightning Web Components and OmniStudio who also has solid hands-on experience creating and maintaining automated test frameworks and scripts.
Role and Responsibilities
- Develop, configure and maintain Salesforce functionality across a business-critical platform
- Build solutions using Apex, Lightning Web Components, Flows, SOQL, JavaScript and OmniStudio
- Design, develop and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks for Salesforce applications
- Deliver automated functional, integration and regression testing to improve test coverage and reduce manual testing
- Work closely with developers, product and wider technology teams to embed testing throughout the development lifecycle
- Translate business requirements into technical solutions, user stories, acceptance criteria and test scenarios
- Support integrations between Salesforce and wider enterprise applications and services
- Investigate defects, identify root causes and support resolution across Salesforce applications, integrations and environments
- Contribute to technical design, code reviews, release readiness and deployment activities
- Support Salesforce environments, CI/CD pipelines and automated testing within deployment processes
- Work collaboratively within an Agile team, contributing to sprint planning, reviews and continuous improvement

Skills and Experience
- Strong commercial Salesforce development experience
- Hands-on experience with Apex, Lightning Web Components, Flows and SOQL
- Experience with Salesforce OmniStudio, including OmniScripts
- Strong automation testing experience within Salesforce or similar enterprise application environments
- Experience developing and maintaining automated test scripts and frameworks
- Good functional, integration and regression testing experience
- Strong understanding of software testing principles, test strategy and defect management
- Good knowledge of Salesforce data, security, automation and integration principles
- Experience supporting Salesforce solutions across multiple environments
- Experience with Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Salesforce CLI, Metadata API and CI/CD pipelines
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Experience working within Agile development teams
- Experience within a regulated, healthcare, life sciences or clinical trials environment would be advantageous

Desirable
- Experience with Salesforce Agentforce or other Salesforce AI capabilities
- Familiarity with Heroku-hosted applications and Salesforce integration services
- Experience with automation testing tools such as Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, Provar or similar
- Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot or Claude Code
- Relevant Salesforce certifications including Platform Developer, OmniStudio Developer, Administrator or Platform App Builder
