Job Description

The Salesforce DevOps Engineer is responsible for enabling the efficient, reliable, and secure delivery of Salesforce solutions through the adoption of DevOps principles, automation, and best practice release management processes. Working closely with Salesforce developers, administrators, architects, testers, and business stakeholders, the role supports the end-to-end software development lifecycle across the Salesforce platform.

This position plays a key role in accelerating deployment automation, release management, environment support, and Salesforce platform delivery activities. The Salesforce DevOps Engineer will design and maintain CI/CD pipelines, manage Salesforce environments, improve deployment processes, and ensure changes are delivered consistently and effectively across development, testing, and production environments. The role requires a proactive individual with a strong focus on continuous improvement, platform stability, governance, and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, maintain, and optimise Salesforce CI/CD pipelines to support automated and repeatable deployments.
  • Accelerate deployment automation by reducing manual processes and improving delivery efficiency across Salesforce environments.
  • Support and coordinate Salesforce release management activities, ensuring releases are planned, tested, approved, and deployed successfully.
  • Manage the movement of Salesforce metadata, configuration, and code across multiple environments using established DevOps practices.
  • Provide ongoing environment support, including environment provisioning, refreshes, issue resolution, and maintenance activities.
  • Collaborate with development, testing, and business teams to ensure deployment and release activities align with project objectives and delivery schedules.
  • Maintain and administer version control repositories, branching strategies, and source-driven development processes.
  • Monitor and enhance deployment performance, identifying opportunities to improve reliability, quality, and speed of delivery.
  • Support change management and governance processes, ensuring all deployments comply with organisational standards, security requirements, and audit controls.
  • Troubleshoot deployment issues, environment challenges, and release-related incidents to minimise business impact.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, deployment procedures, and operational standards.
  • Promote DevOps best practices and continuous improvement initiatives across Salesforce delivery teams.
  • Support the implementation and optimisation of Salesforce DevOps tools and associated platform capabilities.
  • Provide deployment metrics, reporting, and insights to support effective decision-making and risk management.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
