About The Role

We are seeking a talented and experienced Salesforce Developer to join Sage's Product Engineering Team, based in Winnersh (Reading area), UK. This hybrid role requires a commitment of three days onsite, with the remaining days flexible for remote work. As a vital part of our team, you will be instrumental in developing and enhancing our Salesforce-based HR and people management SaaS product, Sage People. This platform is built on the Salesforce ecosystem, serving customers worldwide with a focus on code quality, scalability, and long-term architecture. Your primary responsibility will be to deliver robust, scalable solutions by translating complex business requirements into effective technical implementations. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including frontend developers, testers, product managers, and architects, to ensure the successful delivery of features that align with our product roadmap, which increasingly incorporates AI-driven capabilities. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge Salesforce technologies, including Apex, Lightning Web Components, and APIs, within a supportive and innovative environment that values technical excellence and continuous learning.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in object-oriented programming, with proven experience in Java or C#. Hands-on development experience within the Salesforce platform is essential, including expertise in Apex, SOQL, JavaScript, and Lightning Web Components. A Salesforce Developer Certification is highly desirable but not mandatory. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to manage complex business and technical requirements, delivering solutions that are scalable and maintainable. Experience with version control tools such as Git, project management software like Jira, and familiarity with CI/CD pipelines will be advantageous. Exposure to Salesforce REST APIs and a good understanding of modern development practices will set candidates apart. We welcome applications from experienced Salesforce developers as well as backend developers from Java or C# backgrounds who are eager to specialize in Salesforce development and possess strong technical fundamentals.

Responsibilities

As a Salesforce Developer at Sage, your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and maintaining Salesforce applications, focusing on Apex, Lightning Web Components, VisualForce, and APIs to deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Translating complex business requirements into scalable technical designs and implementations.
  • Participating in technical design discussions, architecture planning, and system thinking to ensure robust solutions.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including frontend engineers, testers, product managers, and architects, to deliver seamless features.
  • Engaging in modern development workflows using Git, Jira, IntelliJ, and CI/CD pipelines to ensure efficient and reliable deployments.
  • Contributing to Agile ceremonies such as Scrum or SAFe, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
  • Playing an active role in shaping the product roadmap, particularly around integrating AI-driven functionalities.
  • Ensuring code quality through automated testing, performance tuning, and adherence to best practices.
  • Continuously learning and applying new Salesforce features and industry best practices to improve the product and development processes.
