Software Engineer

Build secure, reliable software solutions powering the next chapter of Vanquis

We’ve invested significantly in modernising our technology landscape and strengthening our engineering capabilities. The opportunity now is to continue developing secure, reliable and maintainable solutions that support our customers, colleagues and business.

As a Software Engineer within our Solution Engineering function, you’ll design, develop, configure and support software solutions, APIs and integrations across our Salesforce and MuleSoft technology estate.

You’ll turn business and technical requirements into practical solutions, contribute to customer-impacting features and platform improvements, and help maintain the quality and reliability of our operational services. You’ll have the opportunity to apply your experience while continuing to deepen your technical capability in a regulated financial services environment

There's More to the Story

This role is just one part of a much bigger transformation. Explore our Technology & Change careers page to meet the teams, discover our technology journey and see how you can help shape what’s next.

How you’ll make an impact:

You’ll…

  • Design, develop, configure and maintain secure, scalable software solutions, APIs and integrations
  • Translate user stories, acceptance criteria and architectural guidance into technical designs and implementation tasks
  • Apply engineering standards, reusable patterns, source control, testing and deployment practices
  • Investigate defects, incidents and operational issues using logs, telemetry and diagnostic tools
  • Work with product, analysis, architecture, testing, security, operations and third-party teams
  • Support controlled releases, operational readiness, documentation and post-implementation assurance
  • Participate in peer review, continuous improvement and engineering communities of practice
  • Participate in the rostered out-of-hours on-call rota

So that…

  • Our customers, colleagues and business services are supported by reliable and maintainable technology
  • Requirements become clear, practical solutions that can be delivered and supported effectively
  • Software changes are delivered consistently, securely and to an agreed level of quality
  • Root causes are understood and sustainable fixes improve service stability
  • Technology changes deliver joined-up outcomes across the full delivery lifecycle
  • Changes move into live service with appropriate governance, traceability and support
  • Quality, maintainability and technical capability continue to develop across the team
  • Critical platform or integration incidents receive appropriate technical support and escalation

Why this role matters:

Technology & Change is a strategic priority for Vanquis. This role contributes directly to the delivery and stability of customer-facing features, business applications, APIs and integrations.

Your work will help improve solution quality, security, maintainability and operational reliability. By using common components, documenting solutions and maintaining accurate delivery information, you’ll also support more efficient and controlled technology delivery.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
