About The Role

We are seeking a talented Salesforce Developer to join Sage's Product Engineering Team, based in Winnersh (Reading area), UK, with a hybrid work model requiring three days onsite. In this role, you will be instrumental in developing and enhancing Sage's Salesforce-based HR and people management SaaS product, Sage People. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on a mature, enterprise-grade platform built on Salesforce, focusing on delivering scalable, high-quality solutions that meet complex business needs. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including frontend developers, testers, architects, and product managers to create innovative features, particularly those integrating AI capabilities, ensuring the long-term success and evolution of the product.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess proven experience in object-oriented programming languages such as Java or C#, demonstrating strong development fundamentals. Hands-on experience with Salesforce Lightning, Apex, SOQL, and JavaScript is essential, along with the ability to translate complex business requirements into robust technical solutions. A Salesforce Developer Certification is highly desirable. Candidates with experience using Git, Jira, IntelliJ, and CI/CD practices, as well as exposure to Salesforce REST APIs, will have a distinct advantage. We welcome applications from experienced Salesforce developers or backend developers keen to specialize in Salesforce, provided they have a solid foundation in software development and a strong desire to learn and grow within the platform.

Responsibilities

As a Salesforce Developer at Sage, your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and maintaining features on the Salesforce platform, focusing on customer and people management functionalities.
  • Translating complex business requirements into scalable and efficient technical solutions, ensuring high performance and reliability.
  • Participating in technical design discussions, architecture planning, and system thinking to align development efforts with product goals.
  • Collaborating closely with Salesforce development teams, frontend engineers working on Angular, testers, product managers, and architects to deliver cohesive solutions.
  • Utilizing modern tools and methodologies such as Git, Jira, IntelliJ, and CI/CD pipelines to streamline development and deployment processes.
  • Engaging in Scrum or SAFe ceremonies, quarterly planning, and software releases to ensure timely delivery of features.
  • Contributing to the product roadmap, especially in integrating AI-driven capabilities to enhance the platform’s functionality.
  • Engaging in hands-on development using Apex, SOQL, JavaScript, Lightning Web Components (LWC), VisualForce, and APIs, emphasizing real coding work rather than configuration or administrative tasks.
