Job Description
The Salesforce Marketing Cloud Manager role is very important to us. It represents an excellent opportunity for someone looking to take ownership of a mature, high-impact platform and make it their own.
You will work in our central Marketing Communications team, owning the Salesforce Marketing Cloud platform end-to-end and building the automated journeys and campaigns that connect our customer data to real business outcomes, from acquisition through to retention.
You will be responsible for analysing data to track campaign and journey performance and turning that into clear, actionable recommendations, so a strong grasp of data and Salesforce products is essential.
Our work with Marketing Cloud is at a mature stage, spanning multiple Business Units and international markets, but there is still plenty more to build. In this role, you'll have real scope to shape how the platform is used across the wider business, not just execute within it. In-person collaboration is very important to us.
What you'll be doing…
- Own and administer Salesforce Marketing Cloud end-to-end, including Journey Builder, Automation Studio, Email Studio, and Content Builder
- Design, build, and optimise customer journeys across multiple markets and Business Units, including complex journey logic such as decision splits, triggers, suppression, and re-entry rules
- Work closely with data science and Salesforce CRM teams to build and maintain the audiences (Data Extensions) that power our campaigns and journeys
- Write T-SQL queries for audience selection and use AMPscript to personalise sends, with a good understanding of the underlying CRM database
- Own reporting on campaign and journey performance, building and maintaining dashboards, and recommending improvements based on what the data shows
- Manage email deliverability and sender reputation, including domain authentication and monitoring for delivery issues
- Own the governance and deployment process for Salesforce email templates across the business
- Evaluate and manage the third-party vendors and tools that support the platform
- Collaborate with other team members, including the design, comms, data, and pricing teams
- Manage and mentor a Junior Marketing Cloud Developer, supporting their development and reviewing their delivery
What we're looking for...
- Genuine hands-on ownership experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud, ideally as the person responsible for the platform rather than one user of it within a wider marketing role
- Experience creating and managing Data Extensions in Email Studio, ideally including multi-Business-Unit environments
- Experience creating user journeys in Journey Builder, including end-to-end configuration of more complex, multi-step logic
- Experience in Content Builder – end-to-end creation of a new email message with Content Blocks
- Confidence writing T-SQL queries for audience selection, with a good understanding of the CRM database
- Comfortable with AMPscript personalisation and basic editing of HTML and CSS
- An understanding of email deliverability fundamentals (authentication, sender reputation, feedback loops) is a strong plus
- Experience managing or mentoring another team member is desirable but not essential
- A proactive, ownership mindset – comfortable being the go-to platform expert and driving improvements rather than waiting to be asked

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
