Principal Salesforce Engineer

Robert Walters Consultancy Programme

Location: London

Business Area: Asset Management Technology

Reporting to: Client Technology Delivery Lead

The Opportunity

The Robert Walters Consultancy Programme is seeking a hands-on Principal Salesforce Engineer to support a major technology transformation within a leading global investment management organisation.

This is an opportunity to take technical ownership of a strategically important Salesforce platform, delivering scalable, secure, and high-quality solutions across public and private markets. You will lead technical design and development from programme mobilisation through to production support while helping to strengthen engineering standards across the wider team.

The successful candidate will combine deep Salesforce expertise with strong financial services knowledge, excellent technical judgement, and a pragmatic, collaborative approach. You will be equally comfortable writing high-quality code, shaping platform architecture, influencing senior stakeholders, and mentoring other engineers.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the technical design and hands-on development of scalable, secure, and maintainable Salesforce solutions.
  • Translate complex business requirements into elegant technical designs and well-tested production code.
  • Own and champion engineering standards, code quality, technical governance, and overall platform integrity.
  • Design and build robust integrations between Salesforce and upstream and downstream systems, enabling connected client journeys and trusted data.
  • Advance Salesforce DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, release management, and deployment controls.
  • Develop proofs of concept and proofs of value to test ideas, reduce delivery risk, and support investment decisions.
  • Explore and implement practical AI-enabled solutions using capabilities such as Salesforce Einstein and Agentforce.
  • Lead code reviews and provide technical guidance throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Mentor and coach engineers, raising technical capability and engineering standards across the team.
  • Work closely with global technology, business, and delivery stakeholders from initial mobilisation through to production support.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
