Salesforce Product Engineer
We are recruiting on behalf of our client, an innovative technology business, who are looking for an experienced Salesforce Product Engineer to join their growing Engineering team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a hands-on Senior Engineer who wants to do more than simply build features. You'll have genuine ownership of production systems, influence architectural decisions, help other engineers develop, and work at the intersection of Salesforce, AWS and AI-assisted software development.
Salesforce platform development is particularly important for this role, although experience with AWS is also highly valued.
The Role
As a Salesforce Product Engineer, you will design, build and ship production software across the Salesforce ecosystem and wider technology stack.
You'll take ownership of significant areas of the product, making architectural decisions and seeing them through into production. You'll also work closely with customers and the wider business, so this is a role for an engineer who is comfortable understanding the commercial context behind the technology.
AI-assisted development is another important part of the role. Our client is looking for someone who genuinely uses AI development tools as part of their workflow, while understanding their limitations and knowing how to validate and test what they produce.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, ship and maintain production-quality software across the Salesforce platform.
- Develop solutions using Apex, Lightning Web Components (LWC) and Salesforce platform capabilities.
- Design and implement integrations between Salesforce and third-party systems.
- Make architectural decisions and take ownership of their consequences in production.
- Work with AWS technologies including serverless architecture where appropriate.
- Contribute to API, data and integration architecture across Salesforce and AWS.
- Improve the engineering systems around development, including testing, CI/CD and observability.
- Use AI-assisted development tools extensively to improve productivity and engineering outcomes.
- Apply appropriate judgement when using AI-generated code, identifying where it may be unreliable and validating its output.
- Mentor and support other engineers, helping raise the overall quality and capability of the Engineering team.
- Work directly with customers and stakeholders to understand requirements and solve problems.
- Contribute to product and commercial discussions, understanding how technical decisions affect customers and the wider business.
- Operate effectively in a fast-moving environment where priorities and requirements can change.

Skills and Experience Required
- Demonstrable experience building and shipping production software.
- Demonstrable experience taking sustained ownership of a product area or system, rather than simply delivering individual projects.
- Strong Salesforce platform development experience.
- Excellent knowledge of Apex, LWC and Salesforce platform security.
- Experience integrating Salesforce with third-party applications and services.
- Evidence of making architectural decisions within production systems and managing the resulting trade-offs.
- Experience with AWS and serverless architecture is highly desirable, particularly API Gateway, Lambda, DynamoDB and S3.
- Genuine hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools.
- Understanding of the limitations of AI-generated code and the ability to validate, test and verify its output.
- Evidence of improving engineering practices around the software itself, such as testing, CI and observability.
- Experience mentoring other engineers and demonstrable evidence of helping them improve.
- Comfortable working with incomplete information and changing priorities.
- Confident communicating with customers and non-technical stakeholders.
- Commercially curious, with an interest in how the product creates value for customers and the business.

Nice to Have
- Experience with vector databases and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) frameworks.
- Experience with containerised applications.
- Strong CI/CD experience.
- Node.js development experience.
- AWS certifications such as Solutions Architect or Machine Learning Specialty.
- Experience building AI-enabled products or features.
