The Role
The Salesforce Senior Technical Developer / Technical Lead will be responsible for leading the design, development, integration, and implementation of enterprise-scale Salesforce solutions across Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, and Experience Cloud within HMRC's highly regulated environment.
The individual will provide technical leadership to development teams, ensuring scalable, secure, and high-performing Salesforce solutions that align with HMRC governance, security, accessibility, and compliance requirements.
Primary Objectives
- Lead end-to-end Salesforce solution development and delivery.
- Design and develop scalable applications using Salesforce best practices.
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to Salesforce developers.
- Build and support citizen-facing and partner-facing Experience Cloud portals.
- Ensure compliance with HMRC security, data protection, and accessibility standards.
- Design and implement integrations with internal and third-party systems.
- Drive DevOps, CI/CD, code quality, and release management practices.
- Support architectural decisions and contribute to solution design workshops.
Technical Design & Development
- Lead technical delivery of Salesforce solutions across Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, and Experience Cloud.
- Develop custom solutions using:
- Apex
- Lightning Web Components (LWC)
- Aura Components
- Visualforce (where applicable)
- Flow Automation
- Design reusable components and framework-based solutions.
- Translate business requirements into technical designs and implementation plans.
Experience Cloud Development
- Design and develop customer and partner portals using Salesforce Experience Cloud.
- Implement secure authentication and authorization models.
- Configure sharing rules, role hierarchies, and external user access.
- Develop branded digital experiences compliant with HMRC standards.
Service Cloud Implementation
- Configure and customize:
- Case Management
- Omni-Channel
- Knowledge Base
- Entitlements
- Service Console
- Escalation Processes
- Implement workflow automation and service efficiency improvements.
Sales Cloud Implementation
- Develop solutions supporting:
- Lead Management
- Opportunity Management
- Account & Contact Management
- Forecasting
- Reporting & Dashboards
- Implement business process automation and user productivity enhancements.

- Implement CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment practices.
- Manage deployment activities across Development, SIT, UAT, and Production environments.

- Ensure solutions comply with:

- Accessibility Standards (WCAG)
- Maintain technical documentation, design documents, and deployment records.

- 1 Experience Cloud implementation.
- Strong experience with Apex, LWC, Flows, and Salesforce configuration.
- Experience designing integrations with enterprise applications.
- Experience working in Agile delivery environments.
- Experience operating within highly regulated environments such as:
- Government
- Public Sector
- Financial Services
- Healthcare
Preferred Experience
- HMRC or UK Government project experience.
- Experience with MuleSoft or Azure Integration Services.
- Experience with Salesforce DevOps implementations.
- Exposure to Data Cloud and Agentforce capabilities.
- Experience managing offshore/onshore delivery teams.
