SB Building Supplies LTD is an independent builders merchant supplying a wide range of building materials to both trade professionals and the general public. The company supports projects of all sizes, from small domestic improvements to large commercial builds. Team members work closely with customers to provide practical advice and reliable product recommendations. The environment is fast-paced and customer-focused, offering opportunities to learn about construction products and develop strong sales skills.
Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Salesperson role based in Wigston. The Salesperson will assist customers in person and by phone, providing product information, preparing quotes, and processing orders. Daily tasks include:

- Advising on suitable building materials
- Checking stock availability
- Liaising with the yard and delivery teams
- Ensuring orders are fulfilled accurately and on time
The role involves:
- Handling cash and card payments at the trade counter
- Maintaining a tidy and organized sales area
- Updating customer records
The Salesperson will also help identify upselling and cross-selling opportunities, support repeat business, and contribute to a positive team environment.
Qualifications
- Experience in customer-facing sales roles, ideally within builders merchants, DIY, construction, or related trade environments.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and provide clear product advice to a wide range of customers.
- Basic numeracy and IT skills, including handling cash/card transactions and using point-of-sale or order management systems.
- Knowledge or keen interest in building materials, construction products, and typical trade requirements (training can be provided).
- Ability to work on-site in Wigston, handle a busy workload, and collaborate effectively with colleagues in sales, yard, and delivery teams.
- Reliable, organized, and detail-focused, with a commitment to accurate order processing and good customer service.

Previous experience in trade counter sales or retail sales is beneficial; formal qualifications in construction or business are a plus but not essential.
