The Position

We’re looking for a Hair and Beauty Technician part-time

18.5 hours, Term Time Only

We are seeking a motivated and organised Hair & Beauty Salon Technician to support our busy and vibrant Hair, Beauty, and Make-up Artistry department within our college.

You will play a key role in ensuring our training salons and workshops run smoothly, providing technical and practical support to staff and students across a range of vocational courses.

Responsibilities For The Role

  • Prepare and maintain salon areas for practical teaching sessions
  • Ensure all equipment, tools, and products are available, clean, safe, and in good working order
  • Assist teaching staff during practical sessions as required
  • Maintain stock levels, order supplies, and manage inventory
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety, hygiene, and COSHH regulations
  • Operation of the laundry
  • Support students in developing professional salon standards and behaviours
  • Maintain a professional, commercial salon environment for client services
  • Act in accordance with College ethos and values
  • Be aware of and comply with Data Protection and confidentiality requirements
  • Implement the College’s Equal Opportunities and Race Equality policies at all times.
  • Support divisional activities such as taster events, open evenings, competitions etc within and outside of the College
  • Any other duties within the spirit of the job description and commensurate with the grading of the post

Customer Service, Reception & Retail Duties

  • Act as a first point of contact for salon clients, providing a professional and welcoming reception service
  • Manage bookings, appointments, and client records using salon systems
  • Handle telephone, email, and face-to-face enquiries
  • Process payments and operate tills in line with college procedures
  • Promote and sell retail products, advising clients on aftercare and product use
  • Support students in developing their customer service and retail skills
  • Ensure high standards of customer care and client experience at all times
  • Assist with promotional activities, offers, and events to support commercial income
