With laboratory facilities in Leicester and Poole, Environmental Chemistry Testing Limited (ECT), part of the Phenna Group, partners with clients across the UK to deliver a comprehensive range of chemistry and microbiology testing services. Our expertise supports projects across the construction sector, including residential and commercial developments, rail and road infrastructure, airports, tunnelling, mining, utilities, and brownfield regeneration.
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Sample Logistics Collection Driver to join our growing internal logistics team.
ECT Logistics Collection Driver
The ECT Logistics Collection Driver is responsible for the safe, professional, and efficient transportation of client samples, delivery of laboratory consumables, and associated materials across ECT's nationwide operational network. Working Monday to Friday only, with shifts commencing between 12:00 noon and 6:00pm depending on the assigned route, you will play a vital role in maintaining the integrity and timely delivery of materials between clients and ECT laboratories. You will operate one of our brand-new Vauxhall Movano or Vauxhall Vivaro vehicles, all equipped with dual-climate, temperature-controlled storage systems to ensure samples are transported under the correct environmental conditions at all times.
During your 8-hour shift, you will be responsible for a combination of daytime collections and deliveries, alongside evening sample collection routes or evening-only activities. You will ensure that all client samples are collected, handled, transported, and returned to the laboratory safely, securely, and within agreed timescales.
As a key member of the ECT Logistics team, you will play a vital role in maintaining the seamless flow of samples between clients and laboratories, helping to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality testing services across the UK.
The role requires a strong commitment to delivering excellent customer service, maintaining exceptional attention to detail, and ensuring full compliance with company procedures relating to sample integrity, chain of custody, traceability, health and safety requirements, and vehicle operations.
The successful candidate will act as a professional representative of ECT, maintaining the highest standards of customer service, professionalism, vehicle care, and road safety at all times. As a key representative of the business, you will build positive relationships with clients, uphold the company's reputation for excellence, and contribute to the efficient operation of our nationwide sample logistics network.

Responsibilities
Afternoon Duties
- Deliver laboratory consumables, sampling equipment, and associated materials to client sites.
- Collect environmental samples for laboratory testing from client locations.
- Verify that collected samples are correctly labelled and accompanied by the required documentation.
- Ensure all sample containers are transported safely and securely to maintain sample integrity.
- Follow established collection schedules and route plans to meet agreed service levels.
- Maintain clear communication with clients and the logistics management team regarding collection activities and any issues encountered.
- Report delays, incidents, missing samples, or client concerns promptly.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, collections, and vehicle checks.
Evening Duties
- Visit designated ECT Drop-Off locations according to the scheduled route.
- Complete all required LabTrac tasks and records accurately and in a timely manner.
- Collect and safely transport client samples back to the laboratory.
- Ensure samples are stored and transported in accordance with temperature and handling requirements.
- Maintain the cleanliness, organisation, and overall presentation of ECT Drop-Off sites.
- Report any maintenance issues, stock shortages, security concerns, or housekeeping issues identified during visits.
- Ensure drop-off locations remain fully operational and well stocked and fit for purpose.
Specific requirements
- Good oral, written, and numeracy skills.
- GCSE Grade C / Grade 5 or above in Maths and Science.
- Computer literate.
- Full, clean UK driving licence held for a minimum of four years.
- Previous experience of driving commercial vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes is highly advantageous.

Following successful completion of your probationary period and demonstration of the required competencies, you will progress to Level 2 Driver. At this stage, you will take on a wider range of collection routes, develop greater autonomy in your role, and build a deeper understanding of our operations and customer requirements.

As your experience and knowledge continue to grow, you will have the opportunity to progress to Senior Driver. Senior Drivers play a key role in supporting the wider team, mentoring new starters, assisting with operational planning, and helping to maintain the high standards our customers expect.
The next step in your career journey is Team Leader, where you will take responsibility for supporting and coordinating driver activities, ensuring service delivery targets are achieved, and contributing to the ongoing development of the logistics team.
From Level 2 each stage of progression is accompanied by increased responsibility, enhanced skills development, and a corresponding pay increase. The speed at which you progress is ultimately determined by your performance, attitude, and willingness to embrace new challenges and opportunities.
