WHAT IS ON OFFER
AHK AB Minerals Arabia has an exciting opportunity for a Sample Preparation Supervisor to join our team in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Reporting to the Chief Operation Manager, you will be responsible for the overall sample preparation activities and client services functions. The priority for this position will be to organize the production schedule and work closely with the work order entry group and the Sample Preparation staff to ensure client instructions are followed correctly.
In this role, you will maintain operational compliance by following Quality Management System (QMS) guidelines and standard operating procedures, keeping precise records, using calibrated equipment, and supporting new Quality Assurance initiatives. Additionally, you will demonstrate strong leadership in Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards by enforcing safety policies, ensuring your team wears required PPE, providing safe lab equipment, and ensuring full compliance with OHS legislation. You will also proactively address compliance concerns and drive continuous improvement in safety and sustainability culture across the business unit.

DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?
To be successful at Alfred H Knight you will need to display the following:
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Essential
- Manages the process of sample preparation as the samples arrive in the lab.
- Maintain shift production levels and ensure sample preparation work meets required turnaround time.
- Determine when client sample processing instructions are missing, incomplete or ambiguous.
- Contact clients to confirm instructions and ensure that complete information is relayed to prep write-up personnel.
- Maintain close liaison with Branch Manager and other lab staff to ensure the smooth delivery of our services to clients.
- Identify and resolve internal and external issues when they arise.
- Investigate client inquiries and complaints related to quality issues and suggest proactive actions.
- Training of sample preparation staff and monitoring performance.
- Organize employee scheduling and shift work in consultation with the Branch Manager.
- Screening and interviewing of potential new employees in consultation with the Branch Manager.
- Manage employee performance evaluations, discipline and other issues as they arise in consultation with the Branch Manager.
- Use correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality.
- Ensure the equipment preventative maintenance schedule is implemented and maintained.
- Observe established safety regulations and comply with all AHK AB health and safety policies and procedures.

Required Competencies
- Experience in managing and training staff.
- Hands-on experience with laboratory computer systems such as LIMS and Webview.
- Basic mechanical aptitude.
- Organized and highly motivated individual.
- Detail oriented individual with a strong commitment to quality and safety.
- Ability to work independently and/or as part of a team.
- Ability to effectively handle a high volume of work and time critical issues.
- Strong interpersonal skills along with the ability to exercise diplomacy and tact.
- Excellent English communication skills both written and verbal.
- Computer literacy including MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
Required Work Experience
- Minimum 3 years work experience in a commercial minerals laboratory or minerals sample preparation.
- 2+ years' experience in a supervisory role, managing and training staff.
Required Qualifications
- A degree or diploma in Mineral/Geology/Chemistry is an added advantage.
- Forklift license/certification, or experience driving a forklift.
