WHAT IS ON OFFER
Alfred H Knight AB Minerals Arabia has an exciting opportunity for a Sample Preparation Technician to join our team in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Reporting to the Sample Preparation Supervisor and Sample Preparation Assistant Supervisor, you will be responsible for working with client samples and prepare them for analysis in the laboratory according to set procedures and instructions.
In this role, you will adhere to strict Quality Management System (QMS) guidelines and SOPs, maintaining precise records, following change management protocols, and using only calibrated, properly maintained equipment. You will actively support the implementation of new Quality Assurance procedures to keep standards high. You will uphold all AHK AB health and safety policies, apply lock-out/tag-out procedures, wear required PPE, and comply with current OHS legislation. You will also proactively report and correct any unsafe practices, compliance concerns, or environmental risks to ensure a safe operational environment.

DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?
To be successful at Alfred H Knight you will need to display the following:
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Essential
- Operate various sample preparation equipment following procedures outlined in associated QWIs.
- Sort received samples as per clients submission form, noting any discrepancies on sample sorting sheet.
- Barcode labelling of sorted samples and received sample weight capture to GeoCreate.
- Transfer scanned samples to drying racks.
- Crush, riffle, split and sieve as directed prior to drying samples at specified temperature.
- Operate pulverizing mills to achieve desired specification for end product.
- Promptly inform the supervisor of any problems (e.g. excessively wet samples, machinery breakdown etc).
- Maintain machinery and equipment as outlined in the procedures.
- Ensure work areas are kept clean and tidy.

Required Competencies
- Good numerical skills.
- Good hand-eye coordination.
- Good organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Basic alpha/numeric comprehension.
- Basic English communication skills (written and verbal).
Required Work Experience
- 1-year experience in sampling and Sample Preparation experience.
- Knowledge and experience in sampling and sample preparation.
Required Qualifications
- Grade 12 secondary school with science or minimum 5 years of relevant work experience in sample preparation or an analytical laboratory, would be an advantage.
- Forklift license/certification, or experience driving a forklift an asset.
