We are looking for Sampling and Regulations Technician who would like to help us reach our mission to “earn customer loyalty and drive business growth by providing consistently excellent service”.
We are ideally looking for someone based in Norwich. This is a field based role covering East Anglia.
Purpose of this role
Responsible for assuring the public health of our customers by visiting their properties to carry out water sampling, on-site analysis of drinking water and inspecting plumbing systems.
Your Key Responsibilities Are
- You will be accountable for water sampling activities, in accordance with DWTS UKAS 17025 standard, to meet DWI's regulatory programme requirements.
- You will ensure correct storage and transportation of drinking water samples to a suitable location.
- You will have the responsibility to prepare, calibrate, operate and maintain equipment and instruments used to evaluate the quality of water samples.
- You will conduct daily quality control analysis and in situ analysis of water, including chlorine, temperature, taste, odour and turbidity and interpret test results.
- You will carry out fittings inspections to ensure that installed plumbing systems are compliant, identifying risks to water quality and any issues relating to the waste, undue consumption, or misuse of our water.
- You will be required to undertake unscheduled visits mainly to customer residential properties and some commercial properties.
- You will deal with our customers in a professional and efficient manner and provide our customers with a high-quality service.
- You will liaise with both the Water Sampling Manager and the Regulations and Compliance Officer and report any non-conformances to them.
- You may be required to participate on a Standby Rota.

Abilities/Skills
- Any other duties as required by the manager.
- Excellent communications skills.
- Able to effectively plan workload.
- Highly organised and motivated.
- Exceptional record keeping skills are essential to ensure audit trails are maintained.
Desirable
- Computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Able to maintain a helpful and customer focussed work environment.
- Able to provide accurate quality work within department and company.
Conditions of Employment
- You are required to have your criminal records checked through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). This is due to going into customers’ homes.
- You will be required to participate in a standby rota.
- You will hold a driving licence.
