Foundation Apprenticeship at Subway

Foundation apprenticeships are introductory courses that help young people get started in an industry. You do not need to have any specific qualifications or experience to apply. Anyone between 16 and 21 can start a foundation apprenticeship. If you're between 22 and 24, you can start if you:

  • Have an EHC plan
  • Are in care or have been in care
  • Are in prison or have been in prison

About the Role

Subway are seeking a hardworking Catering and Hospitality Team Member to join their team. The successful candidate will support in food preparation, customer service, and much more.

Duties include:

  • Understanding and adhering to the quality standards, formulas, and procedures outlined in the manual
  • Ensuring that each sub meets high standards

Wage:

  • £12,480 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age
  • National Minimum Wage rate for apprentices. Minimum wage rates
  • Free meal on shift 6+ hours

Training course: Catering and hospitality foundation apprenticeship (level 2)

Hours: 30 hours a week

Start date: Wednesday 30 September 2026

Duration: 1 year 3 months

  • Stock Mastermind: Keep the sandwich unit stocked and ready for action. Your keen eye ensures a sufficient supply throughout your shift, making sure no craving goes unsatisfied.
  • Cleanliness Connoisseur: Embrace the art of cleanliness! Follow directives diligently, maintaining a sparkling and hygienic workspace that mirrors the freshness of our ingredients.
  • Transaction Virtuoso: From order to payment, you're the orchestrator. Use our Point-of-Sale system/cash register with finesse, ensuring smooth transactions while making change with a smile.
  • Subway Mastery: Understand and adhere to the quality standards, formulas, and procedures outlined in the SUBWAY® Operations Manual; ensuring that each sub meets our high standards.
  • Money and Bread Maestro: Account for every form of currency, bread, and more during your shift - precision in every detail, every time.
  • Food Safety Guardian: Uphold proper food handling, safety, and sanitisation standards. Your commitment ensures that every bite is not just delicious but also safe.

Training

Apprenticeships include time away from working for specialist training. You’ll study to gain professional knowledge and skills.

Training provider: MIDDLESBROUGH COLLEGE

Training course: Catering and hospitality foundation apprenticeship (level 2)

Training schedule: Day release at Middlesbrough College. On and off the job training. Level 2 Hospitality Team Member Apprenticeship. Functional Skills in maths and English (if required).

You do not need to have any specific qualifications or experience to apply for a foundation apprenticeship.
