Company Description
Mother Shiptons Cave is a visitor attraction based in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire. Over the last four centuries, millions of visitors from all over the world have been enchanted by the park’s natural beauty, mesmerised by the petrifying well and fascinated by Mother Shipton’s story. For the last 8 years, over the festive season we have transformed the park into a Magical Christmas Experience. Mother Shipton’s has been named as one of the “Best Christmas Grottos to Meet Santa” by the telegraph and voted “Best Christmas Experience in Yorkshire” in the Yorkshire Tots to Teens awards. Our team members contribute to creating memorable experiences for visitors of all ages.

This is a temporary Santa role based in Knaresborough. Inside a beautifully decorated, cosy grotto, you will greet families. You will engage in Christmas discussion with the children, giving them a gift and posing for photographs. Maintaining authenticity and warmth is essential, every family should have a magical experience. The role may involve working weekends, evenings, and peak holiday periods. Shifts may be 08:30-14:30, 14:30-20:30 or a full long day. A full costume and training will be provided.
Qualifications
- Ability to embody the Santa character with warmth, patience, and a friendly, approachable demeanor.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with confidence interacting with children and families.
- Customer service experience in a visitor attraction, hospitality, retail, or similar environment.
- Reliability and professionalism, including punctuality.
- Comfortable wearing and maintaining a Santa costume and accessories, and remaining in character for extended periods.
- Ability to sit for extended periods, and to work in a busy, festive environment.
- Previous experience in entertainment, performance, or working with children is an advantage but not essential.
