SAP ABAP Developer Opportunity
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a SAP ABAP Developer based in the United Kingdom.
This is an opportunity for an experienced SAP professional to contribute to both day-to-day operations and strategic development initiatives within a Core Banking Solutions environment. You’ll design, develop, enhance, and support robust SAP ABAP applications with a strong focus on object-oriented programming and code quality. The role involves working across CML, CMS, and SAP HANA-related business processes while applying modern testing and development practices. You’ll take an active role in creating reusable, maintainable, and testable solutions through ABAP Unit Testing and Test Driven Development. Collaboration with business analysts, functional consultants, QA specialists, and technical teams will be central to your success. Working within an Agile/Scrum environment, you’ll help solve complex technical challenges while continuously improving enterprise applications.
Accountabilities
- Develop, enhance, maintain, and support SAP ABAP applications and enterprise solutions.
- Apply object-oriented ABAP development principles while following established coding standards and engineering best practices.
- Develop and support ABAP solutions associated with CML, CMS, and SAP HANA business processes.
- Produce clean, reusable, maintainable, and testable ABAP code.
- Develop and maintain ABAP Unit Tests and automated testing solutions to improve application reliability.
- Apply Test Driven Development (TDD) principles throughout the ABAP development lifecycle.
- Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, architecture and solution design activities.
- Troubleshoot, debug, investigate, and resolve application issues efficiently.
- Collaborate with business analysts, functional consultants, developers, QA teams, and other technical stakeholders.
- Participate actively in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
- Contribute to operational support activities as well as strategic SAP development initiatives.

Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in SAP ABAP object-oriented development.
- Strong hands-on expertise in SAP ABAP programming and application development.
- ABAP training and/or professional certification.
- Practical experience developing and maintaining ABAP Unit Tests.
- Hands-on experience applying ABAP Test Driven Development (TDD) principles.
- Demonstrated ability to produce clean, reusable, maintainable, and testable code.
- Completion of the openSAP course “Writing Testable Code” or equivalent practical knowledge and experience.
- Strong troubleshooting, debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with CML, CMS, and SAP HANA-related processes is valuable.
- Ability to participate effectively in Agile/Scrum development environments.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and functional teams.
- Comfortable contributing to code reviews and technical discussions while working independently when required.
