Role – We are seeking an experienced SAP BTP Architect to provide technical architecture leadership across a major SAP S/4HANA transformation, owning the strategy, design, governance and adoption of SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP).
This senior role will define the BTP architecture roadmap and target-state platform, ensuring integrations, extensions and cloud innovations align with SAP Clean Core principles, enterprise architecture, security and long-term platform strategy.
You will act as the technical authority for BTP, providing architecture governance and leadership across SAP Integration Suite, Extension/Build capabilities, Event Mesh, API Management, Cloud Identity Services, Datasphere, HANA Cloud and SAP AI Services.
Key Responsibilities
BTP Architecture & Strategy
- Own the SAP BTP architecture roadmap and target-state architecture, defining scalable patterns, standards and platform adoption strategies.
- Ensure alignment between SAP BTP, S/4HANA transformation, enterprise architecture and SAP Clean Core principles.
- Govern the adoption and architecture of BTP services across integration, extension, data, automation, AI and application development.

Integration & Extension Architecture
- Define side-by-side extensibility and extension architecture, minimising S/4HANA core modifications and driving Clean Core adoption.
- Establish enterprise integration patterns across SAP Integration Suite, API Management and Event Mesh, supporting API-led and event-driven architectures.
- Govern integration and extension designs across SAP and non-SAP applications, ensuring consistency, scalability and maintainability.
Platform, Security & Governance
- Define BTP tenant and subaccount strategy, environment separation, naming standards, transport models and platform governance.
- Own BTP security architecture across identity, access management, Cloud Identity Services, secure configuration, compliance and audit.
- Govern platform lifecycle, service onboarding, technical debt and adoption of new BTP capabilities.
Technical Leadership & DevOps
- Act as the technical authority for SAP BTP, leading architecture reviews and approving solution designs and technical approaches.
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring across BTP Developers, Integration Specialists and Platform Engineers.
- Define CI/CD, transport, deployment and release governance, driving automation and operational readiness across the platform.
Key Skills
- Extensive experience as an SAP BTP Architect / SAP Technical Architect, providing architecture leadership across complex SAP transformation programmes.
- Deep expertise in SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) with strong knowledge of SAP Integration Suite, Extension/Build capabilities, API Management and Event Mesh.
- Strong experience defining SAP Clean Core and side-by-side extensibility strategies, including scalable extension patterns for SAP S/4HANA.
- Proven expertise in integration architecture, including API-led integration, event-driven architecture and integration across SAP and non-SAP applications.
- Strong experience defining BTP platform architecture and governance, including tenant/subaccount strategy, environments, transports, standards and service adoption.
- Strong understanding of BTP security, Identity & Access Management and SAP Cloud Identity Services, with experience supporting security, compliance and audit requirements.
- Experience across wider BTP capabilities such as SAP Datasphere, HANA Cloud, SAP AI Services, Business Application Studio, Automation Services, Mobile Services and SAP Fiori.
- Strong technical leadership and architecture governance capability, with experience leading design reviews, setting technical standards and influencing senior programme stakeholders.
- Knowledge of DevOps, CI/CD, transport automation and release governance within enterprise SAP/BTP environments.
