SAP Cutover Manager – Contract - Inside IR35
Location: Newcastle upon Tyne – hybrid, typically 1–2 days onsite per week (varying and flexible)
Contract: 3-6 month initial contract
Rate: Flexible depending on the right candidate
We are recruiting an experienced SAP Cutover Manager to lead the planning and execution of complex, business-critical cutovers for a major UK organisation.
This is a hands-on delivery role requiring someone who can build a rigorous, fully sequenced cutover plan and coordinate activity across technical teams, supply chain operations, manufacturing sites and wider business stakeholders.
The successful person will be responsible for ensuring each cutover is controlled, clearly communicated and supported by robust contingency and backout plans. You will need to understand both the technical dependencies—such as systems, interfaces and database transitions—and the operational impact across supply chain and factory environments.
Key responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end SAP cutover strategy, planning and execution.
- Develop detailed, sequenced cutover plans covering technical and business activities.
- Identify dependencies, risks, critical paths and decision points.
- Create and validate robust contingency, rollback and backout plans.
- Coordinate technical teams undertaking system, interface and database transition activities.
- Work closely with supply chain, manufacturing, site and operational teams.
- Lead cutover rehearsals, readiness assessments and go/no-go reviews.
- Establish clear governance, reporting, controls and escalation routes.
- Ensure stakeholders understand their responsibilities, timings and dependencies.
- Lead activity during cutover weekends and oversee progress through to stabilisation.
- Capture lessons learned and continuously improve the cutover approach.

Essential experience
- Strong experience leading complex SAP cutovers within large organisations.
- A demonstrable track record of producing and executing detailed cutover plans.
- Experience coordinating technical, operational and business workstreams.
- Strong understanding of cutover dependencies, risk management and rollback planning.
- Experience working on business-critical systems where disruption must be tightly controlled.
- Comfortable leading weekend and out-of-hours cutover activity.
- Able to maintain structure, pace and attention to detail in a high-pressure environment.
- Willingness to work onsite in Newcastle approximately 1–2 days per week.

Desirable experience
- SAP transformation experience within supply chain, manufacturing, logistics, retail or distribution environments.
- Experience cutting over systems connecting supply chain operations with manufacturing or factory sites.
- Familiarity with complex system interfaces, integrations and database transitions.
