GENERAL SUMMARY
We require an experienced SAP Technical Expert to lead the design, development, and optimization of SAP data extraction and integration solutions into a Microsoft SQL Server Data Warehouse environment.
The role will focus on SAP database structures, SAP data models, ETL design, data governance, and the reliable delivery of SAP data for enterprise reporting, analytics, and BI platforms.
The successful candidate will possess deep technical knowledge of SAP data architecture and database infrastructure, with hands-on experience extracting SAP data from SAP environments and integrating it into SQL Server-based data warehouses.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
SAP Data Architecture
- Analyse and document SAP database structures, data models, and business processes.
- Identify and map SAP master, transactional, and reference data required for analytics and reporting.
- Design scalable SAP data extraction and integration strategies.
- Define and maintain SAP-to-Data Warehouse data models.
Data Warehouse Integration
- Design, build, and support processes to extract SAP tables into Microsoft SQL Server Data Warehouse platforms.
- Create and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines for loading SAP data into staging, operational, and dimensional warehouse layers.
- Develop data transformation logic and business rules to ensure data consistency and quality.
- Optimise data loads for performance and scalability.
Technical Development
- Develop and maintain SAP extraction
- Design SQL Server database schemas, stored procedures, and integration processes.
- Support data modelling activities including star schemas, dimensions, and fact tables.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with Business Analysts, BI Developers, and business stakeholders.
- Provide technical guidance on SAP data structures and source system capabilities.
- Support reporting and analytics initiatives across the organisation.

Operational Support
- Troubleshoot SAP extraction and integration issues.
- Monitor and optimise existing data pipelines.
- Support upgrades, migrations, and SAP environment changes.
- Produce technical documentation and architecture diagrams.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
SAP Expertise
- 5+ years of SAP technical experience.
- Strong understanding of SAP database architecture and data structures.
- Knowledge of core SAP modules
Database & Data Warehouse Skills
- Strong SQL Server development and administration experience.
- Experience designing enterprise Data Warehouse solutions.
- Advanced SQL development skills.
- Strong understanding of relational and dimensional data modelling.
Data Integration Skills
- Experience with one or more of:
- SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
- Azure Data Factory
- SAP Data Services (BODS)
- Other enterprise ETL tools
Technical Skills
- SAP extractors and data provisioning techniques.
- Performance tuning and optimisation.
- Data quality and reconciliation methodologies.
- Source-to-target mapping design.
Desirable Skills
- Microsoft Fabric.
- Power BI.
- SAP Datasphere.
- Data Vault modelling.
- Experience supporting cloud-based data platforms.
Deliverables
- SAP data extraction framework.
- Source-to-target data mappings.
- SQL Server Data Warehouse design.
- Automated SAP data ingestion processes.
- Data quality and reconciliation controls.
- Technical architecture and operational documentation.
Education & Experience
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or related discipline.
- SAP Technical Certification desirable.
- Microsoft SQL Server or Azure Data certifications desirable.
