The Opportunity
We're looking for an experienced SAP ABAP Developer / Application Systems Analyst to join a growing Digital Technology team responsible for delivering and supporting business-critical application solutions across UK operations.
This role plays a key part in supporting the full application lifecycle, ensuring the ongoing stability, enhancement, and optimisation of enterprise applications. You'll work closely with business stakeholders, technical teams, and third-party vendors to deliver new functionality, support existing systems, troubleshoot issues, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
The successful candidate will have strong SAP R/3 and ABAP development experience, combined with a solid understanding of business systems, application support, and systems integration.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with business and functional teams to deliver application solutions that meet business requirements.
- Support and maintain business-critical enterprise applications across their full lifecycle.
- Gather, analyse, and document business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Design, develop, enhance, test, implement, and support SAP applications, interfaces, and integrations.
- Investigate and resolve application issues, defects, and service requests within agreed service levels.
- Perform business analysis, systems analysis, data analysis, programming, and testing activities.
- Support system implementations, user training, problem resolution, and ongoing operational support.
- Produce and maintain technical and user documentation.
- Monitor Helpdesk and Change Control systems to manage incoming work requests.
- Maintain configuration and change management records, ensuring systems documentation remains accurate and up to date.
- Work closely with third-party vendors to deliver enhancements and resolve technical issues.
- Ensure the integrity, security, and availability of business systems and information.
- Deliver preventative maintenance activities and contribute to continual service improvements.
- Participate in out-of-hours support activities when required.
- Occasionally travel to other UK sites and customer/partner locations.

Essential Skills & Experience
- Degree-qualified or equivalent experience in IT, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- Strong commercial experience with SAP R/3 and ABAP development/programming.
- Experience supporting and developing enterprise-scale business applications.
- Strong understanding of:

- Experience working with formal systems delivery methodologies.

- Experience within the Manufacturing, Engineering, Aerospace, or Defence sectors.
- Knowledge of Redwood CPS Job Scheduler (SAP Business Process Automation by Redwood).
