Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced SAP Enterprise Architect / Senior Solution Architect to provide strategic architectural leadership across complex SAP transformation programmes within large enterprise organisations.
The successful candidate will bring a broad and deep understanding of the SAP product portfolio, with strong hands-on experience across SAP S/4HANA and the ability to shape end-to-end SAP architecture in complex, multi-system environments.
This is a senior-level role suited to an experienced SAP architect who can operate comfortably at both enterprise strategy and solution architecture level, engaging with senior stakeholders and translating business requirements into pragmatic, scalable SAP solutions.
The role will involve working on large-scale SAP transformation programmes, typically within the £80m–£100m programme environment, requiring strong governance, stakeholder management and the ability to influence architectural decisions across a large enterprise.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Define and own enterprise-level SAP architecture and solution direction across complex transformation programmes.
- Develop and maintain end-to-end SAP architecture across SAP S/4HANA and the wider SAP product portfolio.
- Provide architectural leadership across complex SAP landscapes, ensuring solutions are scalable, integrated, secure and aligned to business strategy.
- Translate business and technology requirements into clear architectural principles, roadmaps and solution designs.
- Work closely with C-suite, senior business stakeholders, programme leadership and technology teams to establish architectural direction.
- Lead and facilitate architectural discussions, design authorities and governance forums.
- Assess existing SAP landscapes and define target architectures and transformation roadmaps.
- Ensure alignment between enterprise architecture, solution architecture, integration, data and wider technology strategies.
- Provide architectural oversight throughout the programme lifecycle, from strategy and design through to implementation and transition.
- Identify architectural risks, dependencies and opportunities and provide pragmatic recommendations.
- Support programme leadership and delivery teams in resolving complex architectural challenges.
- Contribute to SAP strategy, transformation planning and, where required, pre-sales and client advisory activities.
- Mentor and provide technical leadership to other architects and senior SAP professionals.

Required Skills / Attributes
- Extensive SAP architecture experience, likely gained over 20+ years within SAP, with significant experience operating at senior/enterprise architect level.
- Strong and demonstrable experience across a broad range of the SAP product portfolio.
- Essential: extensive SAP S/4HANA experience, ideally across major transformation or implementation programmes.
- Demonstrable experience working within large enterprise organisations and on complex SAP transformation programmes, typically in the £80m–£100m programme range.
- Proven ability to operate at enterprise level, balancing strategic architectural objectives with practical solution and delivery considerations.
- Strong understanding of end-to-end SAP architecture, integration and the relationship between SAP and wider enterprise technology landscapes.
- Excellent senior stakeholder management and communication skills, with the credibility to engage and influence senior business and technology leaders.
- Experience working within complex programme governance structures and architectural review processes.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a pragmatic approach to architectural decision-making.
- Ability to provide leadership and direction in large, complex and often geographically distributed programmes.
Desirable
- Experience with SAP S/4HANA Cloud and large-scale S/4HANA transformation programmes.
- Experience across additional SAP solutions such as SAP BTP, SAP Analytics Cloud, SAP SuccessFactors, SAP Ariba, SAP EWM, SAP TM, SAP CX or SAP Integrated Business Planning.
- Experience defining SAP transformation roadmaps and target operating models.
- Experience with SAP-led enterprise architecture, cloud strategy and hybrid SAP landscapes.
- Previous experience in an SAP consultancy, systems integrator or global technology organisation.
- Experience supporting SAP pre-sales, client advisory or business development activities.
- SAP architecture certifications or relevant enterprise architecture qualifications.
