SAP Finance Architect
This is a senior architecture role within a forward-thinking Finance function undergoing significant technology transformation. You’ll shape how critical finance platforms, data and integrations work together, helping build a modern, scalable and well-governed technology landscape.
Role Overview:
- Location: Watford, 3 days a week on site
- Package: Up to £95,000 p/a + benefits
- Industry: Finance / Technology
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Own the end-to-end technical architecture for Finance systems, integrations and transformation initiatives.
- Translate complex Finance requirements into practical solution designs, architecture blueprints and technical roadmaps.
- Shape the evolution of SAP across ECC on HANA, S/4HANA, FICO, SAC, BW and Datasphere.
- Architect integrations between SAP, non-SAP platforms, banks, tax engines and other enterprise applications using BTP, CPI, APIs and modern integration patterns.
- Support major Finance transformation programmes, including SAP migrations, cloud adoption, system conversions and M&A integration activity.
- Provide technical leadership across solution design, development, testing, deployment, data migration and cutover.
- Champion robust data architecture, reconciliation, master data, reporting and governance across the Finance landscape.
- Ensure solutions meet enterprise architecture, security, regulatory and segregation-of-duties requirements.
- Act as a senior technical advisor to Finance leadership, business process owners and technology teams.
- Represent Finance within architecture review boards, design authorities and wider IT governance forums.
- Help manage Finance technology debt, balancing business value, cost, risk and long-term sustainability.
- Identify opportunities to simplify and improve Finance processes across P2P, R2R, O2C and related areas.
- Support the Finance technology backlog, helping prioritise enhancements and ensuring changes are delivered effectively.
- Provide guidance around SAP workflows, reporting, extensions, forms and interfaces.
- Support financial close activities through effective data reconciliation across SAP, BW, RISE and SAC.
- Promote innovative approaches to cloud architecture, automation, analytics and integrated data models.
- Work with external technology partners and vendors to ensure solutions deliver against business and technical requirements.

Main Skills Needed:
- Extensive experience as a Solution Architect / Finance Systems Architect within a complex financial environment.
- Strong SAP Finance expertise across SAP ECC, S/4HANA, FICO, SAC, BW and/or Datasphere.
- Proven experience designing integrations between SAP and non-SAP enterprise systems.
- Strong hands-on understanding of SAP BTP, CPI, APIs and modern integration architecture.
- Experience delivering SAP transformation programmes, including S/4HANA migrations, upgrades, conversions or implementations.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms and SaaS/PaaS environments, ideally including Azure or AWS.
- Strong understanding of enterprise architecture principles, with TOGAF or equivalent certification desirable.
- Experience with finance applications such as TMS, GEM Suite and Concur is advantageous.
- Understanding of data governance, master data, metadata, SAP GRC and segregation-of-duties controls.
- Ability to understand end-to-end Finance processes including P2P, R2R and O2C.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to senior non-technical audiences.
- Experience facilitating workshops, shaping business models and coaching technical teams.
- Familiarity with delivery methodologies such as Agile, PRINCE2 or APM.
- Strong documentation and architecture modelling skills, using tools such as Visio, Signavio, LeanIX or similar.
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification is desirable, although equivalent experience will be considered.
