- Lead SAP FICO design, implementation, rollout, support, and enhancement projects.
- Provide functional leadership across Finance (FI) and Controlling (CO) processes.
- Act as the primary point of contact for finance business stakeholders.
- Mentor and guide junior consultants and project team members.
- Drive best practices, governance, and process standardization across SAP Finance solutions.
The Role
This role plays a key part in shaping and delivering enterprise-scale commercial transformation program through implementation of SAP solutions within a major UK retail environment. You will influence architectural direction, strengthen engineering practices, and help build secure, resilient, cloud-native platforms that support large transformation programs. The position provides exposure to cutting-edge technologies across SAP, cloud, microservices, DevOps, automation, and modern engineering tooling, while working on high-impact, mission-critical programs that directly enhance colleague and customer experiences.
Your responsibilities:
- Work on End-to-end SAP FICO implementations, rollouts, upgrades, and support projects.
- Work closely with business stakeholders to understand finance and controlling requirements and translate them into SAP solutions.
- Design, configure, and optimize SAP FI and CO modules in alignment with business processes and industry best practices.
- Act as the functional lead for SAP Finance initiatives and provide strategic guidance to project teams and business users.
- Drive SAP S/4HANA Finance transformation programs, migrations, and system enhancements.
Your Profile
Essential skills/knowledge/experience:
- Strong hands-on SAP FICO consulting experience, including implementation, rollout, upgrade, and support projects.
- Strong expertise in SAP Financial Accounting (FI) including General Ledger (GL), Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Asset Accounting (AA), Bank Accounting, and Tax configuration.
- Extensive experience in SAP Controlling (CO) including Cost Center Accounting, Profit Center Accounting, Internal Orders, Product Costing, Material Ledger, and Profitability Analysis (COPA).
- Proven experience in SAP S/4HANA Finance implementations, migrations, and finance transformation programs.
- Strong understanding of Universal Journal (ACDOCA), New GL, Parallel Accounting, and Financial Closing processes.
- Experience with end-to-end business process integration across SAP modules including MM, SD, PP, WM/EWM, and Treasury.
- Hands-on experience in Requirement Gathering, Fit-Gap Analysis, Solution Design, Configuration, Testing, Data Migration, Go-Live, and Hypercare Support.
- Proven track record of leading multiple full-cycle SAP implementations in global and complex enterprise environments.
- Strong knowledge of financial accounting principles, management accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Experience with IFRS, US GAAP, SOX compliance, internal controls, and audit requirements.
- Expertise in preparing Functional Specifications (FS), Configuration Documents, Business Process Documents (BPDs), and Test Scripts.
- Experience working with ABAP developers for reports, interfaces, enhancements, forms, workflows, and custom developments.
- Strong knowledge of SAP Fiori Apps, SAP Activate methodology, and best practices for SAP S/4HANA Finance.
- Experience in User Acceptance Testing (UAT), System Integration Testing (SIT), defect management, and production support.

Desirable skills/knowledge/experience:
- Experience with SAP Central Finance (CFIN), SAP Group Reporting, and Financial Planning solutions.
- Knowledge of SAP Treasury & Risk Management (TRM), Cash Management, and Financial Supply Chain Management (FSCM).
- Exposure to RISE with SAP, SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), and cloud-based SAP landscapes.
- Experience with SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC), Embedded Analytics, and Finance reporting solutions.
- Understanding of SAP Fiori, workflow configuration, and user experience enhancements.
- Experience in Brownfield, Greenfield, and Selective Data Transition S/4HANA projects.
- Knowledge of data migration tools such as SAP Migration Cockpit, LSMW, and Data Services.
- Exposure to SAP Ariba, Concur, SuccessFactors, and other SAP ecosystem products.
- Experience in designing and deploying Global Finance Templates and supporting multi-country rollouts.
- Knowledge of Intercompany Reconciliation, Transfer Pricing, Consolidation, and Group Reporting processes.
- Familiarity with SAP GRC (Governance, Risk & Compliance) and Segregation of Duties (SoD) concepts.
- Understanding of business process automation, RPA, and digital finance transformation initiatives.
- Experience working in manufacturing, retail, life sciences, consumer goods, automotive, or pharmaceutical industries.
- Exposure to Agile, Scrum, SAFe, or DevOps-based delivery models.
- Knowledge of integration technologies including IDocs, APIs, EDI, and middleware platforms.
- Experience supporting Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A), carve-outs, and organizational restructuring projects.
- Familiarity with AI-driven finance analytics, predictive forecasting, and intelligent automation solutions.
- Strong presentation and executive communication skills with the ability to engage senior leadership and business stakeholders.
- Prior experience in onsite-offshore delivery models and managing globally distributed teams.
- SAP certification(s) in S/4HANA Finance, Central Finance, Group Reporting, or SAP Activate Methodology.
- Ability to contribute to pre-sales activities, solution proposals, effort estimation, and business development initiatives.
