Reed is delighted to be partnering with the City of London Corporation to recruit an experienced SAP Payroll Implementation Specialist to support a major payroll system implementation programme.
This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with strong SAP payroll systems expertise who enjoys working within project environments and contributing to the successful delivery of complex payroll transformation initiatives.
Please note that this is not a traditional payroll processing position. We are seeking someone who can bring hands-on experience of payroll system implementations, testing activities, and payroll system optimisation.
£28 per hour PAYE or £37.46 per hour via Umbrella – Flexible to go higher on the rate
6-Month Contract, Hybrid Working | Bank, London
The Opportunity
Joining an established project team, you will play a key role in supporting the implementation and enhancement of payroll systems, ensuring accurate testing, validation, and successful delivery ahead of go-live activities.

You will work closely with stakeholders across Payroll, HR, Finance, IT, and external system partners to ensure the new payroll solution is fully tested, validated, and ready for operational use.
Key Responsibilities
- Support payroll system implementation and improvement projects, with a strong focus on SAP Payroll.
- Participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT), system testing, and parallel payroll runs.
- Validate payroll data and perform reconciliation activities to ensure accuracy.
- Identify, investigate, and track system defects through to resolution.
- Support payroll-related system configuration and change activities.
- Document processes, workflows, and testing outcomes.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
- Provide support during critical project milestones, including go-live phases.

- Strong hands-on SAP Payroll experience.
- Previous involvement in payroll system implementations, upgrades, or transformation projects.
- Experience conducting UAT, system testing, and parallel payroll runs.
- Strong payroll systems knowledge and an understanding of payroll processes.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience validating and reconciling payroll data.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
Desirable Experience
- Experience working within public sector organisations.
- Exposure to multiple payroll platforms such as SAP, iTrent, Civica, or similar systems.
- Experience supporting payroll system go-live activities.
