SAP S/4HANA Upgrade Programme Manager
Location: Warrington, UK
Work Model: Hybrid (1-2 days per week in office)
Travel: Ad hoc travel to London as required
Contract Duration: 8-12 Months
Rate: Daily Pay Rate TBD (Inside IR35)
Key Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end SAP S/4HANA upgrade programme, including scope, governance, budget, delivery roadmap, and benefits realisation.
- Act as the customer-side programme lead and single point of accountability across business stakeholders, IT teams, SAP, TCS, and third-party delivery partners.
- Develop and maintain the programme business case, investment submissions, funding requests, and strategic delivery roadmap.
- Engage senior stakeholders across Finance, Procurement, Supply Chain, and Technology functions to secure decisions and drive programme ownership.
- Translate technical assessments and upgrade impacts into clear business recommendations, actions, and decisions.
- Lead assessments across business processes, integrations, custom developments, security, data, testing, archiving, and operational readiness.
- Establish programme governance frameworks, steering committees, reporting standards, escalation routes, and decision-making processes.
- Manage integrated plans, RAID logs, dependencies, budgets, critical paths, and executive-level reporting.
- Coordinate SAP RISE readiness activities and manage dependencies across SAP, infrastructure, application, and integration vendors.
- Drive delivery partner performance, ensuring commitments, quality standards, commercial obligations, and programme outcomes are achieved.
- Provide leadership for business change, communications, training, and organisational readiness activities.
- Oversee test strategy, business validation, cutover planning, go-live readiness, hypercare, and transition to support.
- Resolve cross-functional issues, challenge assumptions, and proactively manage risks and dependencies.
- Ensure assessment outputs are converted into a fully executable programme plan with agreed timelines, resources, budgets, and acceptance criteria.

Required Skills
- Significant experience leading large-scale, business-critical SAP transformation programmes in a customer-side leadership capacity.
- Proven delivery experience spanning assessment, business case development, mobilisation, execution, cutover, go-live, and stabilisation.
- Extensive experience leading business change and organisational adoption initiatives.
- Demonstrable success managing SAP, system integrators, and third-party vendors within structured governance frameworks.
- Strong programme management expertise covering governance, planning, budgeting, financial controls, risk management, and dependency management.
- Experience integrating business, functional, technical, testing, data, security, change, and operational workstreams into a single delivery plan.

Nice to Have
- Direct experience delivering SAP S/4HANA upgrades or major SAP transformation programmes.
- Experience working with SAP RISE and cloud-hosted SAP environments.
- Strong understanding of SAP Finance, Procurement, Supply Chain, and related business processes.
- Experience within logistics, distribution, warehousing, manufacturing, or operationally intensive environments.
- Experience developing business cases, securing investment approvals, and managing benefits realisation.
- Professional programme management certifications such as MSP, PRINCE2, PMP, or equivalent.
