Position: SAP S/4 HANA Programme Manager

Employment Type: Contract

Start: ASAP (September/October 2026)

Duration: 6 Months

Location: Cheshire, UK (Hybrid 1-2 days per week onsite)

Role – We are seeking an experienced SAP S/4HANA Programme Manager to provide customer-side leadership for a business-critical S/4HANA upgrade programme.

You will own the programme end-to-end, from assessment, business case and mobilisation through delivery, cutover, go-live and stabilisation, acting as the primary point of accountability across Business, IT, SAP, the System Integrator and third-party partners.

This senior role requires strong SAP programme leadership, executive stakeholder management, vendor governance and business change expertise, ensuring technical delivery translates into successful business outcomes and organisational readiness.

Key Responsibilities:

Programme Leadership & Governance

  • Own the end-to-end SAP S/4HANA upgrade, including scope, roadmap, budget, governance, risks, dependencies and benefits.
  • Lead from the customer side, providing clear accountability across Business, IT, SAP, System Integrators and third-party partners.
  • Establish programme governance, steering forums, integrated planning, RAID management, financial controls and executive reporting.

Transformation & Delivery

  • Shape the business case, investment roadmap and funding submissions, translating technical findings into clear business impacts, options and decisions.
  • Direct assessment across business processes, integrations, custom code, security, data, testing and operational readiness.
  • Coordinate SAP RISE readiness, testing, business validation, cutover, go-live, hypercare and transition into support.
  • Ensure assessment outputs translate into an executable programme with validated resources, timelines, costs and acceptance criteria.

Stakeholder, Vendor & Change Leadership

  • Engage senior stakeholders across Finance, Procurement, Supply Chain and Technology, securing timely decisions and business ownership.
  • Hold SAP, System Integrators and third-party vendors accountable for delivery, quality, commercials and outcomes.
  • Lead business change, communications, training, adoption and organisational readiness, ensuring successful transition to the upgraded platform.

Key Skills:

  • Significant experience leading complex SAP programmes in a customer-side leadership capacity, with accountability for business and technology outcomes.
  • Proven ownership across the full programme lifecycle from assessment and business case through mobilisation, execution, cutover, go-live and stabilisation.
  • Strong executive stakeholder management, with the ability to influence senior leaders, challenge assumptions and drive timely decision-making.
  • Proven experience managing SAP, System Integrators and multiple third-party vendors, establishing clear governance, commercial and delivery accountability.
  • Strong expertise across programme governance, financial management, planning, RAID, dependencies, risk and benefits realisation.
  • Proven ability to integrate business, functional, technical, data, testing, change and operational workstreams into a single delivery plan.
  • Strong Business Change Management and organisational readiness experience, translating complex SAP impacts into clear business actions.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, facilitation and executive-level reporting skills.
