SAP S/4HANA Finance Transformation Consultant
Career level: Consultant (CL9)
Location: London / Manchester / Edinburgh (location flexible)
Practice: Finance Reinvention Partner (SAP)
About Finance RP
Within Accenture, the Finance Reinvention Partner helps clients improve financial performance around the CFO agenda — driving best-in-class performance, and sharper insight and benchmarking across the enterprise. In the UK and Ireland, our Finance RP practice brings together finance strategy and the platforms it runs on, including SAP, Oracle, Workday and EPM.
You'd join our Platforms transformation offering within the practice: a growing team delivering large-scale, business-led S/4HANA finance transformations, and building AI into how we deliver. It's a place to go deep on SAP-enabled finance transformation while staying close to the CFO agenda the work serves.
Why this role
This role puts you at the front of large-scale, business-led S/4HANA finance transformations — sitting with the client's finance leaders, shaping what good looks like, and carrying that design from early discovery through to a working solution at go-live. You'll own your part of the finance agenda, translate what the business needs into a design the SAP delivery teams can build, and grow quickly on marquee programmes alongside people who architect this work for a living. This is the design and advisory side of our SAP finance work — shaping the future-state process and the case for change and handing a clear blueprint to delivery, rather than a hands-on configuration role.
Accenture is a leading solutions and services company. Our strategy is to be the reinvention partner of choice for our clients and to lead in the safe, widespread adoption of AI. We bring together our people, deep industry expertise and technology to deliver end-to-end outcomes for clients — and Finance is one of seven Reinvention Partners at the centre of that. Finance RP brings the CFO agenda to life for clients — stronger performance, sharper insight, and better control.
"Our clients want a partner that can help them reinvent—boldly, continuously and at speed… while continuously building the most client-focused, AI-enabled great place to work for our people—our Reinventors." — Julie Sweet, Chair and CEO

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Delivering across the programme.
- Hands-on experience across the phases of an S/4HANA programme — discovery and envisioning, fit-to-standard and design, business integration and testing, and deployment and stabilisation.
- You bring a solid understanding of period-end close, finance controls and reporting in an S/4HANA environment, and you can use the platform's capabilities to simplify and standardise how finance runs.
- You act as the bridge between business and technology, working closely with SAP delivery and integration teams while keeping ownership of the finance and business agenda.
Working with finance stakeholders.
- You're comfortable facilitating workshops with senior finance stakeholders to define future-state processes, co-developing and securing design decisions, and aligning finance, tax, operations and technology around them.
- You build trusted relationships and have the credibility to challenge and influence finance leaders on the calls that matter.
- As you grow, you'll contribute to how we win and shape work too — supporting bids, helping shape finance transformation propositions, and articulating CFO-relevant value.
Ways of working.
- We're increasingly an AI-first delivery team — bringing agentic tooling and orchestration into how we design, analyse and validate, with our people owning the judgement and the outcome.
- If you already work this way, that's a real plus, and we're keen to hear from people bringing that experience.
Who you are
- You take ownership and follow through, and you're comfortable in the ambiguity that comes with complex client organisations.
- You work well in a team, build trusted relationships across finance, operations and technology, and communicate clearly — you can run a discovery session with a client and explain a design call to a mixed room with equal ease.
- You bring good judgement and critical thinking to problems that don't arrive fully formed.
- You're early in your trajectory and set on building the rest.
Things that set strong candidates apart:
- Experience of S/4HANA finance transformations in complex environments (multi-country, multi-entity, or integrated ERP landscapes);
- Familiarity with fit-to-standard delivery and SAP Activate methods, and a pragmatic sense of where differentiation actually earns its keep;
- Experience designing finance processes with controls, compliance and data integrity built in;
- An understanding of how intercompany, transfer pricing, tax or treasury concepts interact with core finance;
- Experience across both public and private cloud S/4HANA programmes;
- A professional finance or accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent industry experience).
