SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud Finance Lead - Contract - Outside IR35
Location: Fully remote, with occasional travel to UK client sites
Travel: All agreed business travel expenses paid
The opportunity:
An established digital business transformation consultancy is expanding its SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition capability and is looking for an experienced Finance Lead to take ownership of the finance workstream across customer implementations.
This is a senior, hands-on consulting role. You will combine strong SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud Finance expertise with the communication skills and credibility to lead customers through transformation. You must be comfortable chairing workshops, engaging senior finance stakeholders, challenging requirements and guiding customers towards SAP standard processes.
This is not a configuration-only position. You will be the trusted Finance lead: setting direction, managing decisions and dependencies, coordinating consultants and ensuring the solution delivers the agreed business outcomes.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead the Finance workstream throughout the full SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition lifecycle, from discovery and fit-to-standard through configuration, testing, deployment and hypercare.
- Plan and facilitate workshops with Finance Directors, CFOs, process owners and operational users.
- Translate business requirements into scalable solutions aligned with SAP Public Cloud best practice.
- Promote a fit-to-standard approach, confidently challenging unnecessary customisation and explaining the impact of design decisions.
- Own the finance solution design across General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Asset Accounting, banking, tax, intercompany processing, period-end close, controlling and reporting.
- Manage finance-related scope, decisions, risks, dependencies and actions.
- Produce and assure high-quality process designs, solution documentation, workshop outputs and test materials.
- Coordinate functional consultants and collaborate with project management, data, integration, technical and change teams.
- Oversee finance testing, data migration, reconciliation, cutover and go-live readiness.
- Guide customers through decisions involving Fiori applications, organisational structures, master data, controls, roles and reporting.
- Provide clear updates to customer and internal leadership throughout delivery.
- Support pre-sales and discovery activity, including workshops, estimates, proposals and demonstrations.
- Coach less experienced consultants and help develop the S/4HANA Public Cloud finance capability.

Essential experience:
- Strong SAP Finance experience, including recent hands-on delivery with SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition.
- At least one end-to-end Public Cloud implementation in a Finance Lead, Solution Lead or senior functional capacity.
- Detailed knowledge of Record to Report and Finance integration with Procure to Pay and Order to Cash.
- Strong functional knowledge across GL, AP, AR, Asset Accounting, banking, tax, intercompany accounting, closing and controlling.
- Practical experience of SAP Activate, fit-to-standard workshops and Public Cloud configuration.
- Experience with SAP Best Practices, Fiori applications and cloud release processes.
- Strong understanding of Finance integration with Sales, Procurement, Projects, Manufacturing or Supply Chain.
- Experience supporting data migration, testing, cutover and go-live.
- Excellent workshop facilitation, presentation and stakeholder management skills.
- The confidence to advise and challenge senior customer stakeholders while building trusted relationships.
- Strong organisation and leadership skills, with the ability to manage priorities and drive actions to completion remotely.

Desirable experience:
- SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition certification in Financial Accounting or Management Accounting.
- Experience with Central Business Configuration and SAP Cloud ALM.
- Knowledge of SAP Analytics Cloud, Group Reporting, BTP or wider SAP cloud integrations.
- Experience delivering projects for mid-market or enterprise customers across sectors such as manufacturing, life sciences, professional services, retail or distribution.
- Previous SAP partner or consulting experience, including pre-sales involvement.
- Experience leading or mentoring other consultants.
