We are seeking an experienced SAP Technical Architect to provide strategic technical leadership across our current SAP ECC landscape and champion our transformation to SAP S/4HANA. In this role, you will balance the optimization of the existing ECC systems with the architectural design and execution of our S/4HANA migration.

Salary: up to £70,000 depending on experience

Dynamic (hybrid) working: 2-3 days per week on-site due to workload classification, as we approach S/4HANA go-live this will likely increase. The role will require regular travel to France and, on occasion, Italy.

Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship.

Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

The opportunity:

MBDA is undergoing a major transformation programme migrating from a legacy SAP ECC6 system to SAP S/4HANA. The programme is taking place across MBDA UK, France and Italy presenting a unique opportunity to look at our processes and ways of working. This role will directly influence the future system landscape at MBDA UK.

In the UK, we are growing our SAP team and you will occupy a key position in this. The role will involve close collaboration with the SAP team in France and Italy as well as with third party system integrators.

In this role you can expect to:

  • Support the maintenance of the technical architecture of the existing SAP ECC on-premises landscape.
  • Provide technical guidance on SAP Basis, HANA database and application infrastructure.
  • Provide technical oversight of activities include SAP Readiness Check, custom-code remediation and data migration.
  • Support technical testing, cutover, go-live and post-migration activities.
  • Own the integration architecture between SAP and non-SAP systems.
  • Provide architectural guidance on APIs, OData, IDocs, RFC and middleware.
  • Review and provide technical governance for RICEFW developments and technical specifications.
  • Promote standard S/4HANA functionality and clean-core principles.
  • Work closely with security and authorisation teams to ensure appropriate SAP security architecture.
  • Work closely and project manage 3rd party suppliers.

What we're looking for from you:

Essential Skills And Experience

  • Significant experience as an SAP Technical Architect, or Senior SAP Basis/Technical Architect.
  • Proven experience supporting or leading ECC to S/4HANA migration programmes.
  • Deep understanding of SAP HANA database and S/4HANA architecture.
  • Strong SAP Basis knowledge, including system administration and transport management.
  • Strong SAP integration architecture experience.
  • Good understanding of SAP Fiori, Gateway and OData.
  • Experience with SAP security, authorisations, SoD and audit.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management and architectural decision-making skills.
  • Experience project managing third party suppliers to deliver SAP technical activities.

Desirable

  • Technical knowledge of SAP BW, GTS and GRC.
  • Knowledge of S/4HANA extensibility and clean-core principles.
  • Experience in large-scale SAP transformation programmes.
