Your New Company

You will be working for a known organisation. The rate is £621 per day inside scope of IR35. The requirement is to be on-site 2 days a week in either of the following locations - Manchester, Blackpool or Newcastle. Security Clearance is ideal however we will also consider candidates who are eligible for SC Clearance.

Your New Role

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced SAS Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the Discovery, Alpha and Beta phases of a major cloud transformation programme. The successful candidate will provide deep technical expertise across the SAS estate, ensuring analytics workloads are successfully re-platformed and associated data is migrated into the target cloud data warehouse environment.

The role will act as the key authority on SAS architecture, data flows, migration strategy and validation activities, working closely with architects, data engineers and delivery teams to ensure a successful and low-risk transition.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert guidance on SAS platform architecture, dependencies and data flows.
  • Advise on the most effective approach for SAS re-platforming and modernisation.
  • Define SAS migration, testing and validation strategies alongside data engineering teams.
  • Support the creation and assurance of High-Level Design (HLD) and Low-Level Design (LLD) documentation.
  • Produce and maintain knowledge articles and technical documentation relating to SAS components.
  • Ensure data integrity and consistency throughout migration activities and dual-running periods.
  • Conduct technical reviews and quality assurance of SAS migration deliverables.
  • Provide guidance and knowledge transfer to SAS engineers, developers and installation teams.
  • Support defect resolution, troubleshooting and migration issue remediation.
  • Collaborate with programme stakeholders to identify risks, dependencies and mitigation plans.

Essential Skills & Experience

SAS Expertise

  • Extensive experience working with SAS platforms and analytics environments.
  • Strong understanding of SAS architecture, configuration and operational best practice.
  • Experience supporting large-scale SAS migrations or transformation programmes.

Data & Cloud Migration

  • Proven experience of ETL processes and complex data flows.
  • Strong understanding of cloud-based data platforms and re-platforming strategies.
  • Experience migrating data and analytical workloads to modern cloud environments.
  • Knowledge of migration validation, reconciliation and data assurance approaches.

Documentation & Knowledge Transfer

  • Experience producing technical design documentation, including HLDs and LLDs.
  • Ability to develop knowledge articles, support documentation and operational guidance.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and knowledge-transfer skills.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience working within UK Government or highly regulated environments.
  • Familiarity with cloud data warehouse technologies.
  • Experience supporting Discovery, Alpha and Beta delivery phases.
  • Understanding of data governance, quality assurance and testing methodologies.

Security & Clearance Requirements

Candidates must hold, or be eligible to obtain and transfer, SC (Security Check) Clearance.
