Job Description

Responsibilities

  • 24/7 Incident Management, Monitoring, and Fault Handling:

    • Handle incidents, monitor, and manage faults across all platforms and managed services, including:
      • TV (OB, OU, TNT Sport, Managed Leased Services)
      • EGNOS
      • SRIPA
      • BTSIP
      • Avanti
      • Tooway
      • Skylogic
      • Oneweb
      • SCPC
      • SubSea Monitoring
      • Media gateway services (Winterfell, Athena, D3/4)
  • Incident Reporting and Communication:

    • Maintain accurate and concise incident reporting on appropriate systems.
    • Ensure timely and appropriate customer feedback is provided and recorded.
    • Provide incident management (leading into problem management) identification, communications, and resolution for Satcom/antenna systems.
  • Fault Reception and Service Restoration:

    • Act as a fault reception point and SMP, providing first-line incident handling.
    • Liaise with RCO and ITC personnel to implement restoration of service routes.
    • Instigate and carry out disaster recovery changeover using predetermined procedures, in conjunction with 2nd/3rd Line support.

  • Compliance and Documentation:

    • Work in accordance with all relevant ISIS and Local Documents.
    • Familiarize with Madley Fire Precautions Policy & Evacuation Procedures, including roles and responsibilities for Duty Engineers, Bomb Threats, Postal Bombs, Authority to Work, Permit to Work, Flat Roof Access, and Permit to Dig Procedures.
  • Monitoring and Reporting:

    • Proactively monitor functional email accounts.
    • Provide cooperation and liaise with administrations throughout National and International Networks.
    • Provide clear and concise reports to the Satcom Service & Operations Manager when necessary.
  • Operational Supervision:

    • Supervise and monitor all operations systems to ensure minimal service interruptions.
    • Process customer orders within agreed Service Level Agreements (SLT), including billing generation support.
  • Technical Knowledge and Optimization:

    • Demonstrate sufficient technical knowledge to ensure continual optimization of systems and equipment, maximizing benefit to customers.
    • Examples include antenna utilization, modem configuration, and operation of all Earth Station Terminal equipment within the Madley MER & IRS to the agreed interfaces.

  • Off-Site Incident Management:

    • Ensure ownership of off-site incident management and guidance regarding Ground Agent operations.
    • Liaise with and direct Ground Agents, ensuring adequate incident investigation before engagement and support during customer site work through to completion.
  • Work Package Management:

    • Understand and interpret incoming work packages and implement corrections if required.
    • Examples:
      • TVOB / BT Sport bookings – ensuring correct frequency, polarization, and encoding parameters.
      • VSAT systems – Correct frequencies, polarizations, look angles, sources of interference.
  • Site Service Monitoring:

    • Provide continual monitoring of site services such as Fire alarms, HV, LV, Heating.
    • Escalate issues to appropriate teams and contractors (e.g., ADT for Fire Alarms).
