About Us

Grosvenor TimberWorks (GTW) is a new commercial forestry venture – based on Grosvenor’s Rural Estates at Eaton in Cheshire – bringing together a progressive and sustainable approach to woodland management with the processing of innovative timber products, combining a dedication to traditional methods of wood craftsmanship with a long-term commitment to UK forestry.

Grosvenor TimberWorks currently manufactures bespoke construction timber products and is in the process of developing new specialist product lines from our state-of-the art facility, Hatton Heath Mill.

The ideal Candidate

Grosvenor TimberWorks is seeking a practical, reliable and enthusiastic Sawmill Operative to join our team at Hatton Heath on the Eaton Estate. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work, working outdoors and developing specialist skills within a busy timber processing operation.

About The Role

As a Sawmill Operative, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day operation of the sawmill, helping to process timber into a range of quality products while maintaining safe and efficient working practices.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Operating and supporting the sawmill production line.
  • Loading and unloading timber using handling equipment.
  • Sorting, grading and stacking timber products.
  • Loading, operating and unloading timber drying kilns.
  • Assisting with yard organisation and stock management.
  • Preparing customer orders for dispatch.
  • Supporting biomass and firewood operations when required.
  • Helping maintain equipment and ensuring the site remains safe, clean and organised.

What We're Looking For

We're interested in someone who is:

  • Keen to learn new skills and develop their career.
  • Organised, practical and safety conscious.
  • Comfortable working outdoors throughout the year.
  • Able to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Reliable, adaptable and willing to take responsibility for their work.
  • Confident maintaining records and carrying out basic equipment maintenance when trained.

The following qualifications would be advantageous, although training can be provided:

  • Telescopic Handler certification
  • Counterbalance Forklift certification
  • Chainsaw Cross-Cut certification
