Job Title: Data Storage Solution Architect
Duration
6 months with possible extension
Location
Mainly Working from home with occasional visits to Manchester (other locations may be considered)
Rate
Up to £600 per day via an approved umbrella company
Must be willing and eligible to go through the SC Clearance process
About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Data Storage Solution Architect to join the Service Operations team supporting the clients account. This is a key position within the Hybrid Delivery organisation, helping to deliver critical project and operational outcomes across one of the UK's largest and most complex technology environments.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting increased project demand, with an initial focus on the Data Centre Exit programme, while ensuring the continued delivery of high-quality storage architecture services across business-critical customer workloads.
About The Team
The Data Storage Solution Architect will be a member of Service Operations within the clients account. Service Operations forms part of the wider Hybrid Delivery organisation, which is responsible for:
- Managed Services and Applications
- Multi-Cloud Services and Networks
- Service Operations
- Service Management and Security
- Service Futures and Optimisation
Due to increasing project demand, particularly surrounding the Data Centre Exit programme, an additional architect is required to augment the existing team and maintain service quality across a range of high-profile customer environments.

This role is customer-funded and revenue-generating, making it critical to maintaining current levels of support and successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and delivery of enterprise-scale data storage solutions.
- Provide technical architecture support for the Data Centre Exit programme.
- Define storage strategies, standards, and roadmaps aligned to business requirements.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, cloud, network, security, and application teams to deliver integrated solutions.
- Produce high-quality architectural documentation, designs, and solution proposals.
- Provide technical leadership and governance across storage-related projects.
- Assess current-state environments and recommend improvements, optimisation opportunities, and migration strategies.
- Ensure solutions meet operational, security, resilience, and service management requirements.
- Support project delivery teams throughout the full solution lifecycle.
- Act as the storage SME for stakeholders across the HMRC account.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Significant experience as a Solution Architect, Storage Architect, or Infrastructure Architect within large-scale enterprise environments.
- Strong expertise in enterprise storage technologies and platforms.
- Experience designing and implementing storage solutions across complex multi-site environments.
- Proven experience supporting infrastructure transformation, migration, or data centre exit programmes.
- Strong understanding of:
- SAN and NAS technologies
- Storage virtualisation
- Backup and recovery solutions
- Business continuity and disaster recovery
- Storage performance optimisation
- Capacity planning
- Experience working within highly regulated or secure environments.
- Ability to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Excellent documentation, communication, and presentation skills.
- Strong understanding of operational support models and managed service environments.

Desirable Experience
- Experience working on HMRC, government, or public sector accounts.
- Knowledge of hybrid cloud and multi-cloud storage architectures.
- Familiarity with ITIL-based service management practices.
- Experience delivering infrastructure modernisation programmes.
- Understanding of security and compliance requirements within government environments.
