As a Full Stack Developer
You will discover, design, build, cloud-based applications and prototypes that support discovery work.
You’ll work across both front-end and back-end development, helping teams explore, test, and validate new technical approaches and digital services that underpin wider reform programmes.
This role is ideal for a developer who enjoys working across the full stack, contributing to discovery-phase builds while ensuring performance, security, and usability are embedded from the outset.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and test applications using Java / Spring Boot, Python, TypeScript, and Angular. (mix of FE and BE)
- Build and consume RESTful APIs and integrate with back-end microservices.
- Develop prototype user interfaces with a focus on accessibility, usability, and responsive design.
- Discover applications on Microsoft Azure (App Services, AKS, Functions, Databases).
- Contribute to DevOps pipelines, version control, and automated testing.
- Collaborate with architects, data engineers, and UX designers to ensure cohesive end-to-end delivery.
- Participate in sprint planning, code reviews, and technical documentation to support discovery outcomes.
- Support integration of front-end components with APIs and event-driven back-end systems.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
