Job Title: SC Cleared Lead System Firmware & Low-Level Software Engineer

Location: Remote with travel to Bristol/London as required

Duration: 6-month contract

Rate: £650 per day (Outside IR35)

What You'll Be Doing

  • Actively participate in pre silicon architectural reviews, virtual prototyping, and hands on post silicon bring up and debugging
  • Implement end-to-end embedded security features, including secure boot mechanisms, cryptographic primitives, and hardware abstraction layers (HAL)
  • Partner with hardware and architecture teams to define software specifications, optimize platform performance and drive workload optimization for next-generation ARM SoC designs
  • Develop, customize, and maintain Linux kernel drivers, BSPs, and IoT/networking stacks (e.g., TCP/IP, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Thread, Matter)
  • Implement comprehensive unit testing strategies, robust APIs, automated build tools, and modern software development methodologies to ensure delivery of secure, high-quality code

What You'll Bring

  • Strong C/C++ capability; Rust for embedded/systems is desirable
  • Hands-on expertise in ARM architecture with experience across Cortex-M and/or Cortex-A ecosystems
  • Proven background in Linux kernel development and device driver programming on ARM platforms
  • Experience covering both pre-silicon validation/emulation and post-silicon bring-up strategies
  • Solid software architecture skills: designing well-structured APIs, middleware, and maintainable abstractions
  • Excellent debugging, analytical thinking, and cross-functional communication
  • Relevant degree (or equivalent) and 5+ years commercial experience delivering complex embedded/system software products
