SC Cleared PostgreSQL Developer | £430/day | Outside IR35
Active SC Clearance is essential. Applications without current Active SC Clearance cannot be considered.
We are recruiting an experienced PostgreSQL Developer to join an established database team on a high-profile public sector programme.
This is a hands-on PostgreSQL development role, not a traditional DBA position. The successful contractor will focus on developing PostgreSQL stored procedures and functions, implementing data transformations, carrying out unit testing, reviewing database designs, and supporting application updates where required.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop PostgreSQL stored procedures and functions using PL/pgSQL.
- Implement data transformations within PostgreSQL.
- Write, optimise and test SQL code.
- Unit test stored procedures and validate expected results.
- Review existing database designs and recommend improvements.
- Support application and database changes where required.
- Develop maintainable, high-performing database solutions with consideration for performance, error handling, and transactions.

Essential Requirements
- Current Active SC Clearance.
- Strong commercial PostgreSQL/Postgres development experience.
- Strong SQL development skills.
- Experience writing stored procedures and functions using PL/pgSQL.
- Experience implementing data transformations within PostgreSQL.
- Experience unit testing stored procedures and validating results.
- Strong understanding of relational database design.
- Experience reviewing existing database designs and recommending improvements.
- Experience supporting application and database changes.
- Previous experience working within secure or regulated environments.

Contract Details
- £430 per day
- Outside IR35
- Fully Remote
- Initial 6-month contract, structured on a 3-month extension basis
- Start Date: 10 August 2026
