Project Engineer – Digital Engineering

SC Cleared | Defence / Aerospace | Reading | Hybrid

Contract until March 2027 | Inside IR35

We are seeking experienced SC Cleared Project Engineers to support technical delivery across complex Digital Engineering programmes within a secure Defence environment.

There are multiple opportunities available across specialist engineering areas including Synthetics, ITEA, TLS, and Process & Integration.

This role requires someone who can operate as the technical interface between engineering teams and delivery management, coordinating technical activities, managing dependencies and risks, and ensuring delivery against project objectives and milestones.

Please note: Active SC Clearance and sole UK nationality are mandatory.

Key responsibilities:

  • Coordinate technical activities across engineering teams and stakeholders
  • Manage project plans, schedules, milestones and technical roadmaps
  • Track risks, issues, assumptions and dependencies
  • Manage technical interfaces across customers, suppliers and internal teams
  • Support technical decision-making and act as an escalation point for engineering issues
  • Monitor delivery progress, forecasting and performance
  • Support estimation, resource planning and capacity management
  • Facilitate technical reviews and milestone assessments
  • Ensure deliverables meet agreed quality and engineering standards
  • Support configuration, change and governance processes
  • Communicate project status, risks and mitigation plans to stakeholders

Essential experience

  • Active SC Security Clearance
  • Sole UK nationality
  • Minimum 3 years' experience within Aerospace or Defence
  • Experience delivering complex technical or engineering projects/work packages
  • Strong project planning, scheduling, milestones and critical path management
  • Experience managing technical dependencies and interfaces
  • Risk, issue, assumption and change control experience
  • Experience coordinating multi-disciplinary engineering teams and stakeholders
  • Progress tracking, forecasting and project reporting
  • Experience working within structured engineering governance and delivery environments
  • Degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline

Desirable

  • Experience within regulated Aerospace, Defence or Automotive environments
  • Digital Engineering, test, simulation or through-life support experience
  • APM, PRINCE2, PMI, Agile or relevant scheduling qualifications

Location: Reading – minimum 50% onsite, expected approximately 3 days per week.
