Scala Software Engineer / Scala Developer
Location: London
Contract Length: 6 months
Day Rate / Pay: To £650/day
IR35 Status: Inside IR35

Role Overview
Scala Developer contract opportunity to focus on back-end development within a Media organisation in London, working primarily in Scala on AWS cloud infrastructure. The position involves collaborating within a cross-functional team to deliver new features in an agile environment. The role requires strong communication skills and the ability to contribute to product and technical decisions while mentoring others.

The Scala Developer will primarily focus on developing in Scala within a cloud environment, supporting rapid feature deployment. The successful candidate will be part of a collaborative team, contributing to both development and technical discussions. The role emphasizes passing on knowledge and growing professionally while delivering high-quality backend solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain backend systems in Scala on AWS
- Collaborate with team members for code reviews and pair programming
- Participate in product decisions alongside editorial and commercial teams
- Contribute to technical and design discussions
- Assist in mentoring other team members

Key Skills & Experience
- Programming in Scala, mainly running in AWS
- Work in a cross-functional team with rapid feature iteration and release

Requirements
- Right to work in the UK
- Start ASAP

- On-site in London (1 day per week)
- 8+ years’ experience in Scala development
