About The Role
The Scheduler - 12 month contract position with Pertemps Thames Water, based in Reading, offers a full-time role paying between £26,225 and £30,000 annually, dependent on experience. Working within the Planning and Scheduling team, you will construct effective work plans for field crews, coordinate outstanding tasks, and liaise with repair teams, supervisors, and external bodies such as local councils to secure necessary permits. Managing the workload backlog and keeping customers updated throughout their query’s resolution are central duties. This contract requires strong organisational abilities, clear communication, and proficiency in coordinating multiple priorities. Suitable candidates will demonstrate practical planning skills and a methodical approach to workflow management.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Scheduler to join our Planning and Scheduling team in Reading. You’ll play an important part in building effective work plans for our field teams, coordinating outstanding work and working with colleagues and external stakeholders to make sure jobs are completed efficiently and our customers are kept informed.
Please note that this is a 12-month contract.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Liaise with repair teams, supervisors and managers in the field.
- Plan and schedule leakage and customer works.
- Work with local councils to get permits authorised and accepted.
- Manage outstanding work and review the backlog to make sure it’s kept under control.
- Keep customers informed throughout their journey through to resolution.
- Manage requests involving more complex field activity and escalate issues where needed.
- Work with internal planning systems and Click to support effective planning and scheduling.

Base location
Kemble Court, Reading, RG2 6AD - hybrid
Working hours
7:30 am to 3:30 pm
What You Should Bring To The Role
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships.
- A proactive and self-motivated approach.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- A positive approach to problem-solving and taking ownership of issues.
- Ability to work accurately and flexibly in a busy environment.
Additional Skills And Experience
- An understanding of Streetworks or traffic management.
- Knowledge of SAP.
- Knowledge of GIS.
