Position Overview

The Scheduling and Production Control Supervisor will lead the planning, scheduling and production control activities across the business, ensuring customer requirements are delivered safely, efficiently, on time and to the required quality standards.

This role is responsible for translating customer demand into achievable production plans, coordinating resources, monitoring production performance, and ensuring the smooth flow of work throughout the manufacturing process. The Scheduling and Production Control Supervisor will work closely with Manufacturing, Purchasing, Quality, Engineering, Logistics and Customer Support functions to optimise capacity, improve delivery performance and drive continuous improvement.

The Scheduling and Production Control Supervisor will play a key role in operational governance, production planning, KPI management, resource allocation and operational excellence initiatives, while fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork and continuous improvement.

Main Purpose of Role

  • Lead production planning and control activities to ensure customer requirements are delivered safely, efficiently, on time and to the required quality standards.
  • Develop and maintain achievable production schedules that optimise capacity, labour, materials and equipment utilisation.
  • Monitor production performance, work-in-progress and delivery commitments, taking proactive action to maintain OTIF performance.
  • Drive operational excellence through effective resource planning, KPI management, continuous improvement and waste reduction initiatives.
  • Ensure the accuracy of planning systems, production data and operational reporting to support informed decision-making.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Purchasing, Quality, Engineering, Logistics and Customer Support teams to ensure the smooth flow of work throughout the business.
  • Support operational governance, compliance and customer satisfaction objectives while fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork and continuous improvement.
  • Take ownership of employee performance, attendance, conduct, probation reviews and development, addressing concerns promptly and in line with company procedures.
  • Support investigations, disciplinary, grievance and absence management processes, seeking HR guidance where appropriate.

Skills and Experience Required

  • Experience in production planning, scheduling or production control within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing operations and production processes.
  • Experience using ERP/MRP systems for planning and production control.
  • Ability to analyse production data and make informed operational decisions.
  • Strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience in monitoring KPIs and driving performance improvements.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making capability.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and manage competing priorities.

Desirable Experience

  • Aerospace or defence manufacturing experience.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Experience with capacity planning and finite scheduling systems.
  • Understanding of AS9100 quality requirements.
  • Experience with production reporting and KPI management.
  • Knowledge of inventory management and supply chain planning.
  • Experience supporting continuous improvement programmes.
  • Understanding of operational excellence methodologies.
