Location: Broxbourne

Salary: £28,899 (37.5 hours)

Monday to Friday (suggested: 9am - 5:30pm)

Role Overview

The Scheme Manager is responsible for both the day-to-day management of the scheme and the maintenance and repair of the building, communal areas and gardens. The postholder will support residents aged 55+ to live independently, while ensuring the scheme is well maintained, safe and aesthetically appealing. A key part of the role includes regular maintenance of the communal gardens.

What you will be doing

  • Supporting residents’ wellbeing through regular contact and day-to-day oversight, including daily welfare checks.
  • Responding to emergency calls and coordinating support when needed.
  • Encouraging social activities and building a strong inclusive community spirit.
  • Liaising with families, GPs and external agencies to support residents.
  • Overseeing communal areas and working with contractors to maintain high standards.
  • Carrying out health & safety checks and ensuring compliance.

Gardening & Grounds Maintenance

  • Maintain gardens, lawns and planted areas.
  • Carry out planting, including seasonal bedding.
  • Weeding, pruning, hedge cutting and lawn care.
  • Maintain and clear paths and communal outdoor areas.
  • Use weed control safely.
  • Maintain tools and equipment.
  • Improve outdoor spaces.
  • Keep outdoor areas safe and presentable.

Maintenance & Repairs

  • Carry out minor repairs and maintenance.
  • Change lightbulbs, fuses and batteries.
  • Report repairs and to liaise with the Repairs Team and contractors.

About you

  • Experience of working with older customers.
  • Calm and confident in emergencies.
  • Compassionate, approachable and able to build strong relationships.
  • Organised and able to work independently.
  • Strong collaborative skills.
  • Passionate about delivering excellent service.
