Location: Broxbourne
Salary: £28,899 (37.5 hours)
Monday to Friday (suggested: 9am - 5:30pm)
Role Overview
The Scheme Manager is responsible for both the day-to-day management of the scheme and the maintenance and repair of the building, communal areas and gardens. The postholder will support residents aged 55+ to live independently, while ensuring the scheme is well maintained, safe and aesthetically appealing. A key part of the role includes regular maintenance of the communal gardens.
What you will be doing
- Supporting residents’ wellbeing through regular contact and day-to-day oversight, including daily welfare checks.
- Responding to emergency calls and coordinating support when needed.
- Encouraging social activities and building a strong inclusive community spirit.
- Liaising with families, GPs and external agencies to support residents.
- Overseeing communal areas and working with contractors to maintain high standards.
- Carrying out health & safety checks and ensuring compliance.

Gardening & Grounds Maintenance
- Maintain gardens, lawns and planted areas.
- Carry out planting, including seasonal bedding.
- Weeding, pruning, hedge cutting and lawn care.
- Maintain and clear paths and communal outdoor areas.
- Use weed control safely.
- Maintain tools and equipment.
- Improve outdoor spaces.
- Keep outdoor areas safe and presentable.
Maintenance & Repairs
- Carry out minor repairs and maintenance.
- Change lightbulbs, fuses and batteries.
- Report repairs and to liaise with the Repairs Team and contractors.
About you
- Experience of working with older customers.
- Calm and confident in emergencies.
- Compassionate, approachable and able to build strong relationships.
- Organised and able to work independently.
- Strong collaborative skills.
- Passionate about delivering excellent service.
