Locum School Appeals Paralegal – 4 months + – Part Time – Predominantly Remote Working – Up to £30 per hour Umbrella – Midlands

Position: Locum School Appeals Paralegal (maternity cover)

Organisation: Midlands based Local Authority

Duration: 4 months with the possibility of extension thereafter

Working Pattern: Part time (3-4 days per week)

Working Arrangement: Hybrid working

Hourly Rate: Up to £30 per hour Umbrella

The ideal candidate will have experience in handling School Appeals matters in Local Authority.

Duties may include:

  • Manage and provide an efficient and effective school appeals service covering admission and Independent Review Panels (IRP’s) for schools in accordance with the statutory codes
  • Undertake the day-to-day management and administration of the school appeals function, including allocating work (to Admin), overseeing the quality and timeliness of work, and making decisions about competing priorities
  • Ensure the effective coordination of panel hearings including liaison with appellants, Panel members, school admissions officers, school appeal clerks, and SEN Expert Witnesses
