The children, staff, and Governing Body at Holmgate Primary School and Nursery are seeking a School Business Assistant to join our dedicated office team. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly organised individual to play a key role in the smooth day-to-day running of our school.
We are looking for someone who is organised, friendly and a professional administrator who thrives in a busy environment and enjoys working with children, families and colleagues to support a successful school community.
About The Role
Reporting to the School Business Manager, you will provide vital administrative support during the busy morning period. A key focus of the role will be managing pupil attendance processes, supporting school meal administration and providing a welcoming and efficient front-office service to parents, staff and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
Attendance Administration
- Monitor and manage daily pupil attendance using the Arbor Management Information System (MIS).
- Follow up unexplained absences in line with school procedures.
- Contact parents and carers by telephone, email and text regarding pupil absences.
- Maintain accurate attendance records and ensure information is updated promptly.
- Escalate attendance concerns in accordance with safeguarding and attendance policies.

School Meals Administration
- Process daily meal orders using ParentPay.
- Produce accurate meal lists and pupil numbers for the catering team.
- Liaise with kitchen staff regarding meal requirements and changes.
- Maintain pupil meal records and associated administration.
General Administration
- Provide administrative support to the School Business Manager and office team.
- Respond to telephone calls and routine enquiries from parents, staff and visitors.
- Assist with filing, photocopying, data entry and record keeping.
- Prepare correspondence, reports and other documents as required.
- Handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
