About The Team & Role

Are you looking for an exciting new opportunity?

Gloucestershire Hospital Education Service (GHES) is seeking to appoint an experienced and strategic School Business Manager to join their Senior Leadership Team. This is a new role for GHES, and is crucial to the development of the service as we begin to use a second site to deliver the service from.

The successful candidate will be a key member of the Senior Leadership Team – leading on the strategic planning and operational management of all aspects of the school’s business functions: including finance, health and safety, human resources, compliance, catering, administration and governance (GHES Management Committee).

They will provide expert guidance and implement daily support systems that ensure the school runs efficiently, enabling the leadership team to focus on delivering high-quality teaching and learning, and pastoral support.

This role requires strong leadership skills, HR expertise and the ability to manage multiple priorities. You will play a key role in shaping the strategic direction of GHES and ensuring that it operates efficiently and effectively.

About You

The successful applicant will have

  • Proven experience in school business management or a similar senior operational role.
  • Strong knowledge of financial management, including budget planning, monitoring, and compliance with SFVS standards.
  • Experience managing teams across multiple support functions, including administration, catering, and premises.
  • Familiarity with HR procedures, safer recruitment practises, and staff development.
  • Competence in managing school IT systems (e.g., SIMS, FMS) and Microsoft Office tools such as Sharepoint, Forms, Teams etc…
  • Understanding of health and safety regulations and premises management.
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and leadership skills.

About Us

This is a fantastic opportunity to join the hospital education team. You can be confident of joining a highly professional, passionate, supportive and very experienced team of teachers, pastoral and administrative team working tirelessly to ensure the best outcomes can be achieved for every individual despite the health barriers they may be facing.

Working Arrangements – about the role:

The role is a term-time only role with an additional 3 weeks (42 weeks). This works out as being approximately 0.91FTE. It is for 37 hours per week, at Grade 10.

There would be the opportunity to work from home for ½ -1 day per week.

This Position is subject to a DBS check.
