Location: Hob Moor Community Primary Academy, Green Lane, York, YO24 4PS
Hours: 30 hours per week, Monday - Friday 12:30pm - 6:30pm
Hourly Pay: £14.86 plus 25p extra if you hold a Pool Plant Operators qualification
Role Overview
Reporting to the Facilities Manager/Facilities Team Manager, the Facilities Officer will be based on site and will have overall responsibility for maintenance, porterage and cleaning services. The Facilities Officer will also ensure that all services are provided to a consistently high standard and assist the Facilities Management team in all areas required to meet the needs of both the business and the client. The Facilities Officer will need to work flexibly to meet the needs of the team.

Key Responsibilities
- Planned and reactive maintenance as required, responding to all allocated helpdesk requests
- Utility monitoring
- General maintenance and repairs to building fabric and associated equipment
- Identification and reporting/repairing of defects and maintenance requirements
- Porterage and caretaking tasks (deliveries, emergency cleaning, litter picking, weeding, waste removal and the setting out of furniture)
- Supervision and induction of Subcontractors; including monitoring of risk assessments & method statement compliance during works
- Health, Safety & Environmental duties; ensuring that the building is safe and legally compliant
- Communicate effectively with the client (e.g. head teacher / nominated deputy)
- Managing fire systems and relevant documentation as Building Fire Officer
- Carry out the normal operating and testing procedures for the hydrotherapy pool (Hob Moor only)
- Open and close the building as a key holder, ensuring site security and safe access during bad weather

Essential:
- Computer literate (Microsoft Office)
- Proactive attitude towards maintaining the facility at a world class quality level
- Excellent communications skills and the ability to liaise with Tenant Groups & subcontractors
- Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise a variety of tasks
- Positive approach to learning, development and progression
- Have a trade background or good practical core skills together with previous maintenance experience
- Have a flexible outlook towards hours worked (some out of hours working may be required to meet the needs of the business)
- Working knowledge of current Health and Safety practice

Desirable:
- Previous working experience within a school environment
- First Aid at Work trained
- Valid UK Driving license
- IOSH Managing Safely – or similar qualification
- Pool Plant Operators qualification
